When the Colts drafted Andrew Luck, they gave him the entire playbook from Day 1 and said learn this, go out there and win games. No babysitting here. He's throwing on average around 40 times a game, having to out duel his opponent to win games because his defense is awful. Not to mention, Luck is doing this with an interim head coach. He broke the record for most passing yards in a game by a rookie, broke the record for most passing yards in a season by a rookie also. This guy is an NFL quarterback. With 7 come from behind wins this year. You guys say he has a low QBR and a lot of interceptions, he has those because he has to do everything for his team. When throwing the ball 40-50 times a game of course your going to throw interceptions. RG3 throws the ball maybe 25 times a game, obviously Andrew Luck's chances of throwing interceptions rises by the amount of times your put the ball in the air. If Andrew Luck ran read options all day long his interception number would obviously be lower, use your head people, it's logic. Now, for RG3, the Redskins gave him 1 page of the playbook. The read option. Your going to read linebackers and the defensive end. Not hard to do. If the linebackers bite, pull the ball back and throw the post route. If they stay, hand the ball off. If it's a QB option, he reads the defensive end. It's not a complicated system. The Redskins are smart for doing this but, it's not a hard system to run, it's a college offensive. I think you guys would agree with me when your running a QB option it's very unlikely to throw an interception right? Right. RG3 is fun to watch but, there's more to the picture that you aren't seeing. In the long run the NFL has shown option quarterbacks don't last in this league and the quarterbacks that are successful and have a future are the ones who stay in the pocket, read coverages, make the throws into small windows, and execute. Cam Newton had fun last year doing what RG3 is doing this year. Look at Cam now, teams figure it out and when they do, they run out of options to run. Andrew Luck is a better quarterback easily than RG3.

#2I been saying this but I'm biased I'm a Colts fan. I love RG3 game and Wilson, but they have more balanced teams than the Colts. Also Redskins didn't miss a beat with Kirk Cousins...Comment -

#3Luck is a better player than Griffin, I admit this. The Shanahan offense, however, exploits Griffin's talents better. They lock down on Griffin's passes, ala how Pitts handled Big Ben in his early years. Luck's game vs New England showed where he was at. "Average", at best, is where I'd rate him, at best.
If you want to talk about rookie QB's -Russel Wilson is the toast of the class. Went out on a limb saying this weeks ago (he also beat out a high priced free agent QB, just saying). Luck has played amazing. Griffin has played amazing. But compared to those 2? If Wilson isn't the rookie of the year - then we know what 'entitlement' is all about. That's our culture - give props to the rich - but I'd rather have Wilson than any other sub 2 year experienced player at QB right now and it's not even close. Guy is a winner and an amazing QB. We'll see who has the best career, but today and right now - Wilson is the rookie of the year offensively. It really ain't a ballgame, in my eyes.Comment -

#4Well while I agree with your point that RGIII may struggle in the long run with his style, but that's not what the ROY is about. Gotta give him the nod for the award with Wilson a close 2nd, Luck 3rd.Comment -

But as they stand now, RG3 >>> Luck.

#8In 2-3 seasons it will be clear that Luck is the best of the rookie class, the Colts have $40m in dead money this season from all the cuts they made and the o-line is horrible so they have plenty of money to bring in free agents next season.
He is only going to get better the more talent they put around him.Comment -

#15Still undecided on this.
RG3 is a bigger threat. He can beat you more ways than Luck can. He is the better weapon.
In terms of pure passing, Luck may be better but it's not like he's miles ahead of RG3.
Let's have this argument again in 5 years.Comment -

#18Wilson > RG3 > Luck
People make it sound like Luck has put this team on his shoulders....which he has. But this guy has beaten some of the most pathetic teams in the league:
Titans twice, Jaguars, Chiefs, Browns, Lions, Bills, and Dolphins. Only two respectable teams he beat were the Pack and Vikings. And in all honesty, only reason why he beat the Pack was because Crosby shanked two FG's in that game.
That schedule is a joke. And for those of you who say, "well it's not his fault....he just plays the teams on his schedule." Well guess what....It's not RG3's fault that he plays in that system where he only has to throw 25 times a game....that's the system he was given. So if your going to fault RG3 for being protected by the system, then you have to fault Luck for his cupcake schedule.Comment -

#22Andrew Luck took a 2-14 team to the playoffs by himself. Wilson has the Seattle defense which helps him out a whole lot and RG3 has players around him that make him better. Alfred Morris rushed for over 1,000 yards I believe this year. Both of them have great players around them. Wilson has Lynch who is 2nd in rushing yards on the year, it's a lot easier for them to succeed when you have these key players around you.
Put your money on Luck if you want to win this.Comment -

#27Gotta say, it's awesome how great all three of these rookies are. How pumped is the NFL (already the most popular sport in the country by a mile) that it now has three awesome new players for people to embrace and have lengthy discussions about?
I said this in another thread somewhere, but Russell Wilson is the Story of the Year. Just the whole thing, his whole history. It's awesome that it finally got highlighted to the uninitiated last night. That people could disregard his ridiculous accuracy and overall success and drive and let him fall to Round 3 is nuts, but everyone in his and the Seahawks' way will be paying a price for their negligence. I can't wait to see how all three of those teams develop over the next 3, 5, 10 years. Once we get to that 5-year mark, as a Pats fan, when TB12 hits 40 I'll be crossing my fingers and praying that Mallett is half the QB those guys are!! He's got the arm for damn sure, just not so sure about the rest...
Anyway, Wilson's my rookie of the year. With RG3 and Luck just a nose behind. All three are the bomb though.Comment -

You think there isn't a reason for that honestly? If he could throw the ball 40-50 times a game like Luck then he would.
There's a reason that quarterbacks like Brady, Rodgers, Manning, Manning, Brees, etc. throw that many times a game, they have a better chance of winning. And there's a reason why RG3 doesn't, it lowers their chances.Comment -

#34RG3 has Mike Shanahan, that's why I'm confident RG3 will get to the Superbowl before both Luck and Wilson. Shanahan knows how to utilize his QB's talent to the fullest. He made Brain Griese, Jake Plummer, and Jay Cutler all pro bowlers under his tenure in Denver. The Redskin passing game will be even better next year once Fred Davis comes back or Shanahan drafts a good tight end.Comment
