keep-up games were 1-2 last night, now 21-14-1 season to date. they have been on a 1-4 run this week, with the sole winner be a single point. frustrating, but it's safe to say that this angle isn't performing well right now. going to have to sharpen my pencil and get back to work. fortunately, there are two Horizon League games tonight.

with respect to Davidson/Chattanooga, it should be noted that UTC does play a lot of zone. i thought that Davidson's pace and shooting (and the fact that UTC's zone is rather ineffective, unlike Cuse or even Baylor) would more than overcome it, but apparently not. well, i just ran the postgame pace calc on Davidson/Chattanooga, and the pace was actually higher than ken pom's anticipated 70.9 and about in line with the 73 i'd anticipated (actually, 73.12). the difference? both team's offensive efficiency was complete shit (both below .90, with an aggregate of under .87). Davidson's was below .90, which is unreal for a team that normally is at 1.125. so, the zone may have hurt this play, but not with respect to pace. in the end, the culprits were the overall game FG% of 39.4%, 17-56 3PTs (30%), and 16-30 FTs (53%), all well below the respective season to date marks for each team. and of course, there were no extra FTs at the end of the game because it was so tight. pace was an anticipated, just a shitty offensive performance by both teams. bah.
