Gray will be able to slow Jimmer down some. Also, Hartsock for BYU doesn't create a matchup problem against the Zags because Elias Harris is an away from the basket 6'10 player. I'd say Gonzaga by 8-12 tomorrow, if not more. Ride Gonzaga all the way to the final four too. I don't care if FLA wins or UCLA. Also, Pitt doesn't pose a huge problem for the BulldogsComment -

From a basketball/matchup perspective, no, I can't. I know the matchup issues vaguely but I post these from a data/math angle. Granted, I know missing Davies is a huge factor for BYU (admittedly, the data doesn't take that into account either) but if you look at things like strength of schedule, betting trends, points for and against, this is why I think BYU is a winner today even with Davies missing. I think the big issue to me is that Gonzaga really hasn't played anybody. WCC looks very weak and it ended up that their non-conference opponents weren't as strong as in the recent past. Not Gonzaga's fault but, nonetheless, we have to deal in reality here. Everyone can point to how BYU was throttled by SDSU in the conference final but I would contend that SDSU is pretty good and there is no shame to losing to those guys even when you are short-handed and I think, though UNLV got hammered last night, UNLV's body of work was pretty good and they were very deserving of making the tournament. I guess the point being to that is that, night-in night out, BYU played a better schedule than Gonzaga and played in a better conference than Gonzaga. I'm a big proponent of the theory "playing people better or as good as you are" makes you better. Let's also not forget that St. John's was depleted also with Alexander being out so, while I'll grant you that the Zags looked really good the other night, this could be a fallacy.
Again, this is just an opinion. I'm sure when the Zags when by 20 tonight we'll all have a big laugh but I'll take my chances with BYU.

FWIW, ken pom has BYU advancing and he is usually more accurate than vegas when predicting small schools but since this is in the tournament, vegas might be the right way to go hereComment -
