BYU should be a 3 seed.
-Lost 4 games all year, two of which were to #3 seed New Mexico.
-Ranked 7th in the Pomeroy Rankings
-10th most efficient offense
-21st most efficient defense.
-2nd when it comes to preventing offensive rebound percentage,
-9th in turnover percentage,
-3rd in 3 pointers.
-free throw shooting: First in the nation at 78.6%.
-Kansas State is beatable, as shown by Iowa State on the road beating them, as well as a Mississippi loss early on.
-Interesting matchup will be under the glass on K-State's side. While BYU is 2nd in preventing offensive rebounds, K-State is 5th in offensive rebound percentage.
-BYU's 3-point shooting is a big advantage against Syracuse's zone defense.
Utah State is my Cinderella/Sleeper team who will make it into the Sweet Sixteen.
-Ken Pomeroy has them at 21st.
-Capped the year off with 15 straight wins,
-A good track record for tournament appearances under coach Stew Morrill,
-He's taken them to the Big Dance 6 times and the NIT 4 times in the span of 10 seasons (The only time Morrill has not gone to a post-season tourney was his first year).
- They have only won 1 game in the NCAA tournament (as a 12 seed in 2001 against Ohio State), but gave 2-seed Kansas quite the scare in 2003 when they lost by 3 points as a 15 seed.
-Last year as an 11 seed, they lost by a mere point to 5-seed Marquette.
These guys come to play.
Also, Kentucky loses to Wisco because Calipari doesn't want a good tournament run this year.
