Am I the only one that thinks Duke will cover the -18 somewhat easily?
I can see Duke winning by 25.

The problem with an inflated line like that is garbage points. And you end up getting it in the back door, and getting it in the back door is never a good thing.

If Tulsa gets smacked on the road at UAB and UTEP, and Duke smacks teams at home like Maryland,FSU, Clemson, Gtech. I believe smacking Tulsa by 20+ is certainly a good possibility. Tulsa hasnt played at a place like Cameron all season. Should be interesting. Tulsa's D has been allowing 70 points the past 5 games.
I could see a game such as:
Duke -84
Tulsa -61

Duke should crush here but like has been said back door covers can go either way. The game could get out of hand and be 25-28 points or Tulsa could sneak in a late cover and only lose by 15 or so.

I tend to agree with this sentiment, and Tulsa hasn't hit 60 points in any of its last five road games.

I can definitely see Duke taking this one by 20 points or more. Tulsa had double digit losses at UAB and UTEP in their last 10 games, and lost by 6 points at Marshall last week. None of those venues even come close to playing on the road in a place like Cameron Indoor.
Earlier in the season, Duke destroyed Charlotte (who I think is very similar to this Tulsa team, if not better) 101-59 at Cameron. Their wins at Cameron against Wake, GT, and Maryland within the last month or so would have covered this 18 point spread, and all three ACC teams are arguably more talented than Tulsa.

My only problem with it, well, really I have two problems laying this many points. First off, I'm a puss when it comes to laying a ton of points on anyone. That's the first problem. The second one is this: With road games next on their ACC slate, I can't help but feel Krzysewski will rest the Blue Devils' Big 3 tonight as much as he can. Yep, I can see them winning/covering easy, a combination of Duke playing well and Tulsa sucking hind teat right now. Still, I can't bet 'em.
Didn't see any reason to start a new thread about the game, so I'm dumping my little write-up here in this thread. Good luck however y'all play it.
Not that long ago the Golden Hurricane was blowing through its schedule and looking like a force in C-USA. Now, as Tulsa makes landfall in Durham to meet No. 5 Duke, the Doug Wojcik's squad simply blows. The Blue Devils are drawing heavy 18-point chalk for the confrontation and Mike Krzyzewski's squad will be going for a 77th conseuctive win at home in non-conference affairs starting at 7 p.m. (ET).
So Tulsa's bracket-buster game is a little late, no big deal. Well, maybe it is a big deal for the Golden Hurricane who will travel to Durham Thursday to take on No. 5 Duke.
Doug Wojcik's kids were cruising along less than three weeks ago with a nifty 18-4 record and looking like a spoiler squad in Conference USA. Now Tulsa (19-8, 8-5 CUSA) has dropped three straight and four of its last five, and will arrive at Cameron Indoor to face a Blue Devils squad that is streaking towards the ACC title with a six-game win streak.
Two of the four losses Tulsa has suffered recently came at the hands of conference leaders UTEP, including the Golden Hurricane's most recent loss this past Saturday. TU was favored by one at home, but fell to the Miners by a 78-70 score. It could've been worse after the Hurricane were down by 17 at the half.
Tulsa shot just 37.7 percent from the field, well below its season average that tops 46 percent. The Golden Hurricane also allowed the Miners to shoot over 50 percent which is well above Tulsa's season rate of 39.5 percent.
Senior guard Ben Uzoh has scored at least 20 in the three-loss stretch, so he hasn't been the problem necessarily. A leaky man-to-man defense and constant foul trouble has been an issue.
Any lack of defense or allowing Duke to get to the free throw line all night long will kill the Golden Hurricane on Thursday. The Blue Devils' 80.0 scoring average ranks 12th in the nation, and they average over 17 PPG from the charity stripe where they're successful more than three times out of four.
Duke (23-4, 11-2 ACC) has played right on the spread its last two games, wins at Miami and home vs. Virginia Tech. The 67-55 triumph Sunday vs. the Hokies saw the Devils fall just short of the 12 ½-point closing total. The 122-point final also stayed well below the closing 140 ½-point number, giving Mike Krzyzewski's crew four 'unders' the last five trips to the hardwood.
It's been a three-man show during the six-game win streak, and all season for the Blue Devils. Jon Scheyer (18.9 PPG), Nolan Smith (17.9) and Kyle Singler (16.9) are combining to score about 54 of Duke's 80 points per game, roughly 67 percent of the total. It's even higher in the six-game run with the Big 3 scoring 339 of the Devils 441 points (76.8 percent).
If Tulsa does the unthinkable and pulls the outright upset, it would mark Duke's first non-conference home loss in 10 years. That's a stretch of 76 games as the school's official website noted, and its going to be 77 after Thursday. Duke has also been a good money machine at home with a 13-4 record in front of the crazies. Tulsa has been poor at the window all season, 7-16-1 overall and just 2-7-1 away from home.
Oddsmakers loaded up Duke with 18-point chalk, setting the total at 142 before dropping it a point to 141. With road tilts at Virginia and Maryland coming up, it's easy to imagine Coach K giving his Big 3 as much time off tonight as possible.
Those who tune into ESPN2 at 7 p.m. (ET) will be spared the Dickie V lovefest with Duke. Dick Vitale won't be on the mic for this one meaning Duke haters won't have anything to distract them from the game itself.

Willie Bee has many good points on this game. Might be a spot for a bridge jumper, tho. Must consider, center Jordan has NBA talent on certain nights. Might try to slow down the game as much as possible. Tulsa coach is not hated by Coach K. If Jordan gets in early foul trouble, as happens sometimes, it will get ugly.
