its getting more impossible every year to grind out a solid profit for all but the top 2% of cappers. too many teams, too many sharp lines, too much parity. its not getting any easier. usually i am up a good solid 10-15 units by the end of January and 30-40 units by the end of the season but this year has been tough.

I don't know, but the public was spot on.

I honestly think KenPom is the worst thing that could've happened to oddsmakers and books. They lazily tail his projections (so obvious if you look at sides and totals) and it leaves their jaw wide open on games like this, where advanced statistics supersede logic.

I don't know how many games this year in college hoops that I've passed on because the line looked "too good to be true." In watching UCLA since Muhammad came back, there's no way in hell they should've been +8.5 here. Yet I'd be willing to bet that is almost exactly where KenPom had them (I'm sure someone could verify).

Same goes for Richmond. I know VCU is ranked and on a roll, but a pretty solid Spider squad is +9 at home? What? A horrible line. Just horrible.

I took UCLA but didn't get a chance to post it; was busy most of the night. Of course, I also took BYU, so I'm still making zero progress trying to figure out the "new world" of college hoops, where everyone apparently needs to react to KenPom's numbers first and foremost -- oddsmakers included.

Zona 81 ucla 68 for his prediction if thats what your looking for..

It seems like games he is way off on thats about 5 points towards the favorite.. usually go the opposite way or vice versa

Thanks. That's obviously why Vegas had UCLA at the absurd number they did -- because KenPom had an absurd number for the game in the first place.

I'm not saying KenPom isn't a valuable resource -- he's great at what he does -- but there are also obvious chinks in his armor when you look at some of these scores vs. the lines and it's pretty pathetic that oddsmakers just blindly follow his numbers instead of creating their own.
