I think the Lakers find a way to make this deal happen, it might take 3 or 4 1st round draft picks + a couple players. But after back to back losses to the Bobcats and Cavs I think they should feel like they have to pull off a deal of this magnitude if they want to resolidify themselves as the favorite.
Lakers land Melo by the end of the week...

#2Trust me, beating Boston in Boston more than makes up for those 2 loses.. They are not going to trade Bynum (which they would have to to pull this trade off) just because they decided not to play against the leagues bottom feeders..Comment -

Pierce was sick and Ray 3-pt all-time record had more meaning than the
game did.
LA knows they did not really beat the Celtics.
LA NEEDS. They would be WISE to trade Bynum and virtually WHATEVER
it takes to land MELO. Kobe has lost a step. Melo is a killer.
the lights of LA will make Melo even better. He needs the pressure.Comment -

So if they trade Bynum they have no interior presence with only 2 big men left both of whom become pussies on the road.Comment -

#6And next when the Celtics play the Lakers again, if it is this same Laker team, the Celtics will mop up the floor with them. Does not matter where either. The Lakers had better get Melo. Heck, The Heat will do the same to them and so will Orlando, and that's if lakers even make the finals. Won't happen with the current roster. Spurs will eat them for lunch.Comment -

Lakers would be a much better offensive team. plus, you have to consider
that Melo has no injury questions..if he agrees in principle to a long term
deal, LA secures their offensive future in a post-Jackson world.Comment -

#13Lakers defense not an issue....every game's gone under last 3 months because they're winning with defense
What they need is offense. What they need is Melo.

#15I really don't see how adding Melo would help the Lakers. They can't trade more than two first rounders, and subtracting Bynum doesn't help their D. Melo worsens their D even worse, and having two guys who like to iso won't work too well.Comment -

#24They're not getting Melo and Denver damn sure isn't taking the Lakers 1st round picks. Late picks are borderline worthless to a rebuilding team.
It amazes me how people never learn. Every season, people see a bad loss and think it's the end of the world. The way some people act, one Lakers loss = 5 game losing streak for anyone else.
Chill out. Every team shits the bed against the scrubs a few times in the regular season.

#34trading bynum would be foolish
the lakers are contenders every year because they have the best front court in the nba
trading bynum weakens their defense, and their team overall

#35trading bynum would not be foolish but for Melo? The guy is like an AI, he will ruin the team. No way he will play second fiddle to Kobe, he's not that kind of guy. He would rather be the man on a third place team than the second (third really) man on a first place team.Comment
