I dont know anything about the Heat cause i havent followed them all year. I do know that your thinking is almost the same as any joe out there. THe celtics beat them every time and that no other team is going to win except Boston. Books love that stuff. Lets see who advances to the NBA finals.Comment -

My thinking is the same as any joe out there? If you polled most average NBA fans/bettors, I'm sure the vast majority would say Miami will be in the Finals -- not Boston. Trust me, it will be the C's that will be overlooked by the "Joes" come postseason time, not Miami.

#44If the Heat make the finals with no legit, tough post threat and this dipshit as their head coach, it'd be nothing short of a miracle.

He runs his team very well, calls TOs at the right times, this team will become as systematic as SAS come the playoffs. You can tell the Miami Heat is Spoelstras entire life. These superstars have only been playing together since summertime, and they're tearing up the NBA. Imagine how the Heat will look in 2012? Ofcourse I expect Spoelstra to get left out, being surrounded by all these NBA powerhouses. You gotta give credit where credit is due.Comment -

0-3 against Boston
0-2 against Dallas
They have solid wins at Orlando, Oklahoma City and LA -- other than that, who exactly have they beaten?Comment -

#46Look at the Cavs team that took the Celtics to 6 games last year. same team that has won 10 games this year. Wade and Lebron have both played in the finals, they thrive on the postseason. Boston is old. If they have a tough first couple rounds it will be hard for them.
The regular season doesn't mean anything just remember that. Miami will win the championship and if not Lakers will take it.Comment -

The only guys slowed down by their age are Pierce, KG, and Shaq. Ray is in better shape than 95% of the NBA. If the Heat can't beat the Celtics when they are missing 3 of their 4 big men, their backup SF, and their #3 guard, how can they do it when the Cs are healthy? It is apparent that Doc is prepping this team for the playoffs by making injured players fully heal before letting them play. The Celtics will be in much better shape by the playoffs, barring any catastrophic injuries to 1 of their starters.
Heat need a legitimate big man and/or PG before they will be serious contendersComment -

#48Jordan never needed a big man. Boston can't guard Wade and Lebron over 7 games. They can do it one at a time, but not in a series. Shaq was horrible in the playoffs last year. The difference is not big Z. The Heat have big Z right now. The Heat don't even have Haslem- thats 10 points and 8 boards a game there. Him and Garnett always go at it. I'm telling you that Lebron and Wade are not going to lose to Boston in the playoffs.
Are you going to ask pierce to guard Lebron for 7 games? who's going to guard Lebron when pierce is not in the game marquis daniels? Come on.Comment -

#49I'm going by statistics as well. Wade was able to push Boston around in last year playoffs at times by himself. A few games were close if i remember and the heat even won one behind like 50 from wade. Lebron usually plays good against the celtics in the playoffs but falls short. It'll be a great series. an instant classicComment -

Okay, the Heat are missing Haslem. Celts are missing Shaq, Jermaine O'Neal, Semih, Delonte, and now Marquis... any one of those guys is as good or better than Haslem.Comment -

Next year should have epic playoffs tho... potential last run for Boston Big 3, plus Heat/Bulls another year older and better, and the Knicks/Magic as potential great teams tooComment -

They'll mix it up, just like they have so far this year. Did you see Rondo pretty much shut Lebron down on Sunday? And Wade hasn't done shit against the Cs so far this year... they do a great job of slowing him down.

#59I was waiting for this to happen. Goatmilk told Paul in his thread that he was going to create a new name soon maybe less than a week ago. As coiner pointed out Goat didn't even put up a head fake. He posted a winner last nite as well on Utah in his same standard $200 bet fashion. You can't make this up. I like goat and want him posting here as long as he is CIVIL, but what bothers me is he thinks everybody is dumb when not everybody is. You can see it in his post and the fact he did nothing to get somebody off his scent is remarkable. I would have least put up an act if I was getting a new ghost started and then ease into the HEAT talk "and nobody on the Celtics can guard Wade and Bron-Bron for 7 games"PRICELESS. Made my day, Thanks again for all you do Goat

#62like I said previous... this is where the value comes... it's not who they beat now, but who they will beat in the future... They are younger, faster, and more talented then the Celts, and in a 7 game series, smartness will win 3, but in the end, the regime of Green will end... and again, I'm FAR from a Heat fan, but I think there is great value there ... Boom line is they don't NEED to beat anyone in the first 50 games... hel even the first 80 games... just afterwards where they will beat up .500 teams until they reach the East final...Comment -

And that's why I said in this thread that CHI poses the biggest threat to the Heat in the EAST not named Boston. Goat tells me CHI would be lucky to win 2 games. Maybe he is right but look at this... CHI PG Trumps Heat PG. CHI interior offense/defense Trumps Heat. Chicago Bench Trumps Miami Bench. Well that leaves Bron-Bron and Wade to have to go nuts nite in and nite out to win the series. I personally think the rest of the Heat will be a complete non-factor agaisnt CHI and that will be tough to overcome.Comment -

I just really don't think they can "turn it on" this year for the playoffs. I am not sure there is that extra gear out there for them. There starting 5 is very beatable, Lamar Odum is the X-Facor and a luxury to bring that kinda player off the bench but for the most part there bench sucks or is average at best. Matt Barnes returns will help but I just don't know if they have it. They have become an "old team" very quickly with all there contributing players 30+ yrs old now. Bynum isn't but obviously with his knee he moves like hi is 30+ yrs old. In the end they are the Lakers and with Kobe, the length they have and experience are definitely "ripe" to be taken out this year. You can only win so many championships with Derek Fisher as a starting PG.Comment -

It depends. But no not lately against the elite players/scorers. He is a shell of his former self back when stars wanted a nite off rather than go against him. Artest was really the best ever in his prime at locking down scorers. He has held some of the best to games of single digits in his prime... Back when Latrell Sprewell was an All Star top caliber player he held him to 2 pts in a game. Artest held quite a few to horrible single digit scoring nites. His motor cant run like that now all game.Comment -
