It means no TV money in the short term. But it also may mean better ratings in the end. The average fan gets sick of 3 months of playoff basketball, only to be muddled in so-so matchups.

Having teams like the Lakers and Orlando help ratings, because they establish front-runners. Just like in presidential elections, the horse-race mentality usually brings in ratings.

Anyway, bad stuff happen because of money in all aspects in life, of course sports, but as a whole I think it's one of the cleanest leagues in the world.

there are setups in all sports in all the leagues in all the countries, if you dont believe that you are naive

Im pretty sure many nba games have been influenced one way or another, but its hard to prove, especially when the guilty party uses excuses like 'human error' or 'subjective judgment' I cant believe you just characterized the nba as one of the cleanest leagues after the tim donaghy case, imagine all the things that go on which havent been made public and never will be

I posted a thread about this yesterday, but yeah all the sweeps are odd I see the jazz taking it. But the NBA is definitely not the cleanest league even in the States really? There is definitely cheating in the NFL too though, but its not as easy. (Belichick)

First of all believe me I know how much crap goes on in the world. I'm the last that would think anything is truly clean. Money runs everything and the most important ppl in the world do the worst thing just for money, so of course we see things like that in sports.
Now when I saw the NBA is one of the cleanest leagues, it's in comperesent with other leagues. I lived in many places around the world, I follow most sports, and I can tell you Soocer leagues in Italy, Israel, France and Germany have a lot more of these problems than the NBA. I also think that what goes on in the MLB is worst than anything in any sports, so the NBA which I consinder my #1 sport to watch and bet, is doing ok ...

We have bad calls, we have weird calls, in general and as a whole it's an amazing league that is ran very well. I see to many "Stern wants game 7" crap around here and most of those statments are proved worng this year. You can't have a 100% clean league. When someone makes X amount of money and someone gives him 10 times as much for one game, most ppl will take it ... and gambling is the cause to those things. We see it in reality shows, we see it in politics and of course we see it in sports. But if anyone truly believes everything is altered by Stern you should stop betting the NBA.

                                    Pretty simple - steroids.
The worst thing that can happen is sports is the players themselvs doing something illegal. I think it's worst than anything else is sports.

Or if the Lakers win, he'll cancel the result and send the entire Lakers team to jail.

He referred to "company men". Donaghy was never actually proven to have influenced any games.

                                          people never get this right.

the nba was outed by donaghy and people still think stern would be dumb enough to have that going on when the scandal almost crippled the league?

if anything, the nba is the cleanest sport out there now. stern made sure of that.

the nhl is the main one to look at now. betteman needs big matchups and stars, and a game is relatively easy to fix with ref calls.

What's happened this past weekend completely and utterly takes a shit all over this conspiracy nonsense about "the league wanting a long series".

Suns sweep over Spurs was a catastrophic disaster beyond comprehension that would have been avoided at all costs if it could have been, it wasn't and I don't see why Utah or ATL will now magically be propelled for a victory. They're already buried at 3-0, nobody cares.
