      * I may create 1 or 2 more nba autobets during the season or even in the next few weeks as I gear up for my favorite sport.

Hope to see all the regular nba sharps come and join in with your analysis, selections etc.

I will also be creating a 16 man contest as i did in baseball and football. Head to head match ups for about a month at a pop. Details to follow.

I know the lines aren't up but any thoughts on the NBA opener's first day October 27...

                Boston vs. Cleveland
                Washington vs. Dallas
                Houston vs.Portland
                L.A. Clippers vs. L.A. Lakers

                My leans are...

Boston - This team is stacked with GREAT players. I think they will be too much offensively for the Cavs. Additional players like Shaq and Parker is not going to get it done against the high caliber Celtics imo.),

                Washington vs. Dallas -

I would stay away due to Dallas injuries. Josh Howard and Shawn Marion may be out that first week of the opener. Washington is much better than last year having a GREAT coach, pickng up Mike Miller, rookies and sophomores like Young getting better, Arenas back, the list goes on. I think Washington is capable of stealing that game BUT I wouldn't count on it. If Josh and Shawn plays I would take Dallas because Dallas can be hot at home but without them they seem short handed. And Dallas don't like playing D. So I'm 50/50 on that.

Portland - Most West teams play extremely well at home and Portland is one of them. Portland is stacked with offense. They lost Channing Fry but picked up a good experienced backup PG Andre Miller. Oden is ready to play. Houston is without their main 3 stars from last year Yao, Mcgrady, and Artest. The question is who will step up and be the main star player on that team until Mcgrady gets back in around mid season. Houston is a very young inexperience team a little like Golden State. I definitely like Portland on this one. Don't forget Houston eliminated Portland last year in the playoffs... this game could get ugly... lol.

Last I like the Clippers I expect them to BLOWOUT the Lakers... Just kidding. The Lakers will no doubt win their season opener the question is by how much. And I do believe they get their rings on that day too so don't expect them to lose you can lay the mortgage down on this lol. But I hope the bookies give us a break and not make the spread double digits or a high moneyline of -1000.

My strong leans and possible plays is on Portland and LA Lakers. Maybe a tease, moneyline parlay, or Portland spread.

You realize this is the same fakers that dont give a shit in the third quarter, **** around in the 4th. Get the crowd pumped up about tacos, and wait for kobe to put on a "show". You do realize this is the same fakers that can be up by 20 then let the scrubs play the rest of the second. For me they will be a pass untill they prove me wrong.

                  Looking forward to NBA though!

Oh wow and the Nets still cover lol. With the Knicks there's always hope for them to not cover. Up 16 in the 4th quarter and then almost lose the game so sad lol. Some players on the Knicks I don't see how there in the NBA. The Nets Lopez got a lot better, Yi got better, and Terrance Williams the rookie is really good. But both these teams should have a flunking season.

Tue 10/27 - (all lines are projected)

(3x) cavs -5 - the cavs are 5-0 su/ats the last 5 home games vs boston winning those games by an avg margin of 17ppg. the cavs didnt have any major turnover to their lineup other then adding shaq which should not be a huge transition as he'll simply be playing defense and taking easy dunks off lebron double/triple teams. anthony parker was added as the teams new shooting guard. another solid defender who should also help the cavs to a championship in 2010.

(1x) blazers -11 - as with any sport, early in the season i like to focus on playing teams that return the same core players vs a team that made dramatic changes. the blazers should be right there again in the west and will have a major size advantage on most teams any given night. now they face a rockets team minus yao, tmac and artest. this rocket team may become scrappy and a nice ats dog play in a few weeks, but for right now they are fade material for me.

(1x) clippers +12 - my traditional opening day fade of any team that is raising the banner for their championship. why not take advantage of a decently talented clippers team when they're all healthy.

i doubt that ariza will turn into a star this year. he doesn't have the offensive skills to be one. defensively he is good, but on the offense he is more of a spot up shooter and finisher on the break. i think that its gonna be brooks and scola running the show for houston.

He hit 17k off of 2 team parlay last season and I never heard since lol. But the people who are here now should tear it up this season... roag... BL... but you just named 2 skillsets (J and a finisher)?

whenever i would look at his threads, he would be playing teams like the lakers, celtics on the moneyline.

was he really good at capping games or did he simply have the bankroll to lay extreme odds like that with confidence?

"He's taking advantage of the opportunity," says Rockets point guard Aaron Brooks. "He's expanding his game to not just spot-up shots and defense, he's actually going one-on-one and utilizing his skills. This is an opportunity for him and an opportunity for a lot of people, so we're glad to have him."
It's a tall order for Ariza. He's never been the first option on a team, or even really a top three option, and in Houston the Rockets would really like to see him in that category eventually.
"We're expecting him to bring a lot to us. We're going to ask him to do things he hasn't done before and we're hoping he progresses and gets better and better, especially on the offensive end."
It's a golden opportunity for Ariza, the kind of opportunity that doesn't come along very often. The Rockets are going to put the ball in his hands early and patiently wait to see if he can find a significant offensive game. With Tracy McGrady not scheduled back until late November, the Rockets' success may actually depend on what Ariza makes of his new opportunity.

dex you are right about ariza. i am working on new math for nba, things are going well. thei thing about nba is consistency of effort seems to be far more variable especially in the december to february timeframe, so it is a challenge for me. i am not trying to do the square peg/round hole thing and make nba fit the capping style i use for other daily sports like nhl and baseball, the modeling is very very different.

Something like, Look, we all know Trevor isn´t a go-to guy but we must pick someone with T-Mac and Yao injured and Ron-Ron long gone? Come on, of course not but that is exactly what will happen and with him being the "biggest" worthy aquisition he will be given chance to prove so. And this is where I think he will fail. He is a tremendous defender, I´ll give him that but other than that I think we will see low FG% and rise in TOs and I think it will drag Houston down before they realize that Ariza is just a role player.

The only good value I see is a parlay of Dallas, Portland, and the Lakers. Or taking Boston +4.5. And maybe a tease of Boston +9.5 and Dallas -3.5. But I will most likely wait and get a feel of this NBA season before I jump right into action.

The only game I would take at the moment would be the Portland 1st half, since Rick Adelman will probably want to see how his starting lineup does even if they are down 15-20 points.
