Basketball Play of the Day - Saturday, 3/10/07
SBR will give the winner of the March Basketball Parlay of the Day Contest a sparkling new 19-inch LCD DVI Monitor! Keep in mind guys that I WANT to win this thing myself, so you all better bring your "A" games to beat me!!

For those of you unfamiliar with the contest, here are the rules:

Post your 2 best basketball plays each day, NBA and CBB full-game Sides & Totals allowed only, no halves. Same game Side/Total parlays are ok. You have until five minutes before tip time of your first game to post the selections. Also note that all plays will now be graded against a uniform line! I will post the lines from Pinnacle at approximately 11 AM ET each day. Those of you wishing to make selections before then may do so without posting your lines, and they will be graded against my posted lines.

All parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00, and I will keep two sets of standings: the Official Standings will be based on parlay units won/lost, and the secondary standings will be on a game-by-game basis ranked by winning percentage.

The Catch: You must have SOME ANALYSIS for each play. Only needs to be one sentence, no big deal, although full paragraphs are ok too. Plays submitted with no analysis will NOT COUNT toward standings.

The player with the most units won after the games of March 31 will win the winner-take-all grand prize. Note that you must play at least 15 days (30 plays) during the month to qualify for the prize! In case of a tie in units, the tiebreaker will be the better winning percentage. If still tied, the contest will be extended with the tied players making one parlay selection per day at the start of April until the tie is broken. NO PASSES will be allowed during this extension period, and any of the tied players doing so will be eliminated regardless of the other player(s) results for that day.

Good Luck to All (but not too much...I need a new monitor!)

    Fine Print:

1 entry per household and IP address.

Must use lines posted in daily thread by LT Profits

    Tie breakers:
Will be decided by win % of individual parlay legs. 2nd tiebreaker is based on additional daily parlays until one person breaks tie.

15 parlays must be made in the month.

All decisions made by SBR with regards to this contest are final.

SBR will pick a DVI LCD monitor that is features on this page when winner is decided.

      Texas and Arkansas (again)

I'm so hung over that I can barely speak, TX wins the rubber match with OK state after playing horribly last night. Arkansas goes on a mini-roll and advances to the SEc TOURNEY

        Purdue +6.5?
The Boilers may not realize they are in the NCAA tournament, and I like the way they've been playing. Painter won't be outcoached by Matta like Amaker was, and this one should be close throughout.

        Boston College +11.5?
This line is a little high for me on a neutral floor. If the Seminoles hadn't put the F in FSU, they could have beaten North Carolina yesterday. UNC took way too many bad shots, while FSU was missing open bunnies (highlighted by future European player Thorton missing a dunk) and threes. BC brings a better effort today.

These are the Official Grading Lines for today, with the starting times in PACIFIC Time. Please disregard the juice attached to each Side & Total as ALL parlays will be graded as 10.00 to win 26.00.

It turns out nobody played the Houston U/Memphis U game early, so just disregard that line.

Purdue +6 (Got +6.5 for real). I just think Ohio State is a public favourite and the streaking Boilermakers will keep it respectable.

Memphis/Charlotte o205 2 teams with no defence to speak of. This could easily go over 215 in my humble opinion.

                  Texas, Oklahoma State Under 146
As long as there's no OT, this one should barely reach 140. See a Horns win, 70-65, in my fuzzy brain.

                  Illinois, Wisconsin Over 115
Everything says this should be an under. But I'm throwing a contrarian play on this one. Badgers win, 65-60.

Purdue +6 Same two teams I was on yesterday. If Purdue can somehow repeat the defensive effort they showed against Iowa they'll go down to the wire against OSU. They have no inside presence they've really frustrated Oden in the two games against him. If OSU gets real hot from beyond the arc this one will likely go down in flames though.

Illinois +6.5 They survived yesterday in a game that didn't really resemble basketball vs IU. The one thing they can do is defend and will turn today's game against Wisky into a similar affair. I'm guessing McBride may actually hit a shot today as well This is a lot of points to get with a team that has won 16 straight in the building.

Everything says this should be an under. But I'm throwing a contrarian play on this one. Badgers win, 65-60.

Willie, not only did your boys get zero calls, they couldn't run Law off of a high-screen to save their life. I hope that drops the future on A&M to win it all. I'll drop a smallish 20-50 dollar bet on them. Sucks bro, I was really looking forward to a rematch. They will be the best 2 seed (as I feel they are the most complete teamin the tourney). I wish you well.

BYU +4.5: Both of these teams have been red-hot lately with little separating them statistically, so we feel that the value lies with BYU getting this many points here. The Cougars are 10-1 straight up in their last 11 games, and most impressively five of those wins have come on the road. UNLV is 11-2 in its last 13 contests, but it should be noted that one of those defeats was a 90-63 blowout at the hands of these Cougars in Provost. Even looking at the season-to-date numbers there is little difference between these clubs, as BYU has an average winning margin of +8.2 points per game while the Rebels have an AMOV of +8.1 points.

CAVALIERS/BUCKS UNDER 195: The Under is now 10-2 in the last 12 head-to-head meetings, and four of the last five encounters have failed to reach 185 points combined! Furthermore Cleveland road games are averaging 190.0 points this season, about five points less than this posted total, with the Under going 16-14 in those contests. Now granted Milwaukee can be a scoring machine with Michael Redd back in the lineup, but the Bucks have been held under 100 points eight of the last nine times it has come up against this Cavalier defense.

Oregon/USC Over 138: Scorers all over the court in this matchup. While USC doesn't play at the same pace as Oregon, they are capable of getting up and down the court and have the athletes to match the Ducks. I look for a close game with both teams in the 70s.

Hawks +2: Just don't think the Wolves should be favored on the road against anyone, particularly on the second night of back to back road games. Even without Joe Johnson, Atlanta has enough to get by Minnesota, who, other than KG, have completely given up.

Akron -6.5: They split the season series, but Akron shot poorly in both games and should get a blowout tonight.

BYU +4.5: Should be a close game for the reasons LT mentioned.

Miami Oh +6.5 - Akron hasn't been playing as well as they were earlier in the year, and Miami Oh knows how to control the pace and keep themselves in games like this. Both games between these two in the regular season were decided by 2 points, and this one is likely to go down to the wire as well.

San Antonio/New Jersey under 186.5 - San Antonio has rediscovered defense of late, and New Jersey is not likely to force the pace on a second of a back-to-back. This game is likely to wind up in the 170s.

Losing streaks collide. Both squads playing not-so-bad and each ready to breka out, Maybe both do at same time. High energy game, manageable total.

                                          under @ ATL.
Opposite theory. ATL is bad at home, and Wolves should be weary. Game should plod along.
