Kings the play versus Wizards
Game Time: 12/21/2006 10:30:00 PM
By: Marc Lawrence
The back end of TNT's NBA doubleheader tonight finds the Washington Wizards in Sacramento to face the Kings. With the Wizards having trouble on the road this year and anxious to end this trip west before returning home for the holidays, play the Kings in this 10:30 (ET) scheduled tip off.
The Kings return to Arco Arena off back-to-back previous home losses knowing they are 5-1 straight up and against the spread in this series when favored by 13 or less points.
Sacramento (10-13) is 7-6 at home, with two of those losses in the last week against a red-hot Phoenix team (105-98) and to Dallas by a 109-91 count on a night that Mavs forwards Dirk Nowitzki and Josh Howard combined to shoot an incredible 73% from the floor (24-for-33). While Nowitzki and Howard were hot, the Kings were not, shooting under 40% as a team with guards Mike Bibby and John Salmons just 5-for-20 (25%) between them.
The Wizards are even on the season at 12-12, but they're just 3-9 away from Washington. Two of those three road wins came in back-to-back game at the hapless Knicks and 76ers earlier this month. The Wizards fell 117-108 in Denver on Monday night to a Nuggets team that was without Carmelo Anthony and pre-Allen Iverson. Gilbert Arenas could not find the net as he missed 20 of his 30 shots on the night, and was just 3-for-12 from behind the arc.
With Washington away from home for the holidays, look for Sacramento to return to their winning ways tonight.
