It was a greedy foul, period. The conservative approach is let him take the shot and put a hand up but they decided to push for the steal and that is what happens. It was not a mental error, or a stupid foul. It was just a product of the risky strategy that they employed.

If that's how you want to spin it, it was a stupid strategy. Even if you get the steal you can't do anything with it with 1 second left and no timeouts. Just flat out moronic. The shot Middleton was going to get the way he came to the ball was going to be a near impossible shot to make.
