    2015-2016 nba matchup observations
This thread is for all of us to use to organize our thoughts regarding matchups throughout the season.

Chime in every now and then if you're watching a game and notice a player struggling/excelling against a particular defense/player/style.

    Thx

Just an observation from last night. The Unibrow seemed to figure out he was the best option on the floor for his team when it was too late in the 4th qtr. Look for him to take over tonight agst portaland. Especially early.

Jeremy Lin looks super asian this year.

Okafor is going to put up monster numbers for the Sixers who will probably lose another 60 games.

The Spurs look like they can be scary good once they learn how to play with LA

Health will be the only thing that keeps them from making a deep post season run

I thought they looked pretty good for a first game. I'm not quite sure what Danny Green was doing on the last (meaningful) play of the game, but I'll take it since I had okc lol.

Lillard and Mccollum will be one of the top backcourts in the league this year.

Aminu is their shut down wing defender -- great pickup

But with Lillard Mccolum and Leonard all being average defenders, they can get exposed by a team with some versatility at the 1 2 and 4 spot

The Spurs are 4/1 to win it all. Of course they'll make a run if Healthy.

To add some insight, I think there is a good chance Cleveland makes a run in the East....provided Lebron doesn't get hurt.

When I said deep run, I meant win it all.

I can't see the Thunder beating this team 4 times.

                  Probably not.

The Thunder won't be able to beat Golden State. OKC will need homecourt and then need the Spurs to beat the Warriors in round 2 to even have a chance.

GSW are getting no love for a team that just had one of the best seasons in NBA history. They can play uptempo, play a halfcourt game, play great offense, play great defense, etc. I have never seen a team as versatile as them.

You like Lillard to be scoring champ? I hesitated to take him at +800 a couple days ago.

No. Probably Durant or Harden. Would also put Melo Curry and Paul George ahead of Lillard.

                        Good thread,
Am enjoying the in game coverage how they are switching games, and having discussions about the games
                        Not just on one game.
They should fire PJ Carlesimo and hire someone like Gary Payton, to come discuss hoops. Well at least someone more cool than PJ.
Atlanta had some liabilities. They looked old at the 4,5 spots. Slow off the ground. Then Korver at the 3 is useless unless wide open.
They just couldn't get any production from the 2 spot either. They looked less athletic than the pistons.
The pistons have some nice additions on that team, they play team defense, looking solid.
The Bucks need a real point guard. They got hammered by the knicks.
What I don't like about the NBA is how they show Cavaliers on TV too much.

I don't see OKC getting past SA. Kawhi owned Durant today, same will happen if they meet in a series. Same thing that happened to Durant against LeBron a few years ago in the finals. If you can put a big athletic wing on him, you can slow him down. I still think this is OKC's best team since their finals run, only problem is there are a few other really good teams in the West.

The Cavs should sleepwalk to the finals. Same old story with the Wizards, Hawks and Raptors. They will all win around 50 games but flame out in the playoffs. The Bulls could challenge the Cavs, but I still don't see it in a 7 game series. Heat might be the second best team in the East if they can stay healthy.

the Rockets continue to play zero defense, simply horrific on that end

Kawai Leonard will not own Kevin Durant in a 7 game series....

There's a 0 percent chance of that happening.

Leonard is a great player, one of my favorites, but him holding Durant to 26 a game in the playoffs and him averaging about 20-22 himself will be a huge accomplishment and would definitely be enough to give the Spurs a chance to win that series.

Btw, I'm pretty sure Durant did anything he wanted against Lebron in that finals. Didn't Durant average like 30 a game that finals?

Heat won that ring because Wade single handedly shut down Westbrook and James Harden, whoever he was on.

Lakers have no legit wing defender. Look for legit pure scorers from the 2 and 3 spots to expose them this year.

Look for the Kings to run a lot of small ball at the end of games unless they're facing elite PF/C combo size (with Rondo, Collison at the 2, Maclemore or Bellinelli at the 3, Gay at the 4, Cousins at the 5).

Karl A Towns is ridiculously good
Didn't see Okafor yesterday but Towns is the most polished rookie I've seen since Kevin Durant. He is easily the best offensive player on that team already. Wiggins has ability to defend almost anyone on the wing. Rubio who looks like he figured out where the basketball hoop resides aIong with already being naturally great passer. They could be sneaky good if they had a bench worth a damn.
