No one said he could miss the entire season just that he's healing slower than expected

Those specific words were used on rotoworld, it's not like I made them up. Of course it's all hypothetical.

Sounds like an exaggeration. No one is reporting that locally?

76ers center Joel Embiid may not be available to play at the start of the NBA season after the latest setback in the healing of his right foot, an NBA source said Sunday. There's also a legitimate chance that the 7-footer could miss the entire season.

Okafor was always the better prospect anyway. He enjoys basketball. Embid enjoys being on TV -like Hibbert and Howard.

Even if he doesn't play another NBA game in his life, I think the Sixers made the right pick. He was a boom or bust type of guy. If he stayed healthy, he was easily a top 2 or 3 player from that draft. Who else were they going to take at that spot, Vonleh? Randle? Stauskas? Gordon?

He was worth the risk. Last years class really sucked for as much as it got hyped up.

Gordon is going to be a super-star i think. But I understand picking Embid -scouts were comparing him to the dream at the time.

draft is really a joke now.

maybe he was compared to the dream but at least the dream did something in college. embiid and all the picks now are imo projects/potential based.

side affect of 1 and done.

Players should have to be 21 to play in the NBA and not be so close minded to choose college when there are several OTHER paying leagues both in USA and abroad.

Honestly I would rather players be allowed to play in the NBA at 0 years old but the kids being kids (aka morans) would join the draft at that age forgoing an education and very lucrative "benefits program" because they think they can ball with the best.

1 and dones is bad for both NBA and NCAA.

Just like they compared LBJ to MJ or a white guy to Bird or Nash, it's all bullshit to hype the draft and draftees to ensure future interest. LBJ to all time greats was a fair comparison, but he is nothing like MJ on or off the court.

imo its a combination of this and i think the cupboard is just bare right now with not a ton of high school/college talent. i know im in minority on this but i dont think many of these guys were going to get much better with 2-3-4 years of college ball

the cupboard is bare? WHAT?! If you had merely a 2-year rule the NCAA would have been loaded with talent last year (the Wiggins class). In Europe the top teams have youth squads. That seems the most likely solution to the NCAA con; a mesh of the D-League and the NCAA with no education.
