Correct me if I'm wrong but how did the stalling of the free throws for durant hurt him in any way ?

Rhythm is correct. Players at the line want to shoot the 2nd ft as soon as possible after shooting the first one. Durant was already done his routine and about to shoot it when Joey stopped him, he froze Durant, like a coach in the NFL would call a timeout before a game winning FG. Joey Crawford gave a subtle "edge" to Memphis by doing that. It should also be pointed out that Joey Crawford could have EASILY made that correction after the ft attempt before he allowed Memphis to inbound the ball, chances are Memphis would have called a timeout if OKC tied the game too. Very shady move by Crawford.
