That's good hockeytown11. I didn't know that you were also playing them straight. that gives me great comfort to know that you are doing it the right way. Now you're good.

the only thing i keep track of since ive been here at sbr is the record of my *big* plays - and they are currently 9-15. i did awful in the bowls and made some plays that i was not equipped to make (didnt know some of the teams well enough). so hopefully someone out there has faded those plays this month, and has collected more than my book has. lol - but i'm very confident that i'll be at 500 soon enough. thanks to some of ck's heavy/pc plays, i have not lost as much as i would have. and chase has been good to me so far as well. thx bro...

You hit it right on the nail. I am riding the Cards until the wheels fall off. And you know what (this will show how much of a degenerate I am) the Steelers are my favorite football team, and have been since I started watching football as a 6-7 year old kid. The game that got me sold was the Super Bowl where Lynn Swann caught that deep sideline ball while tumbling over against the Cowboys. Plus Jack Lambert looking into the backfield with his front grill knocked out, and LC Greenwood and the yellow cleats, or Mean Joe Green and the Pepsi commercial with the kid giving him the coldie!
I am playing the Cards and the moneyline as well. I just think that heir receivers are big and strong enough to take whatever punishment the Steelers secondary may pass out, and also they will burn them deep. Their receiving corps are ball hawks and they don't drop passes. Also Edgerrin James is adept at picking up blitzes. Kurt Warner doesn't hold the ball that long neither. They have to keep the pedal to the metal tough if they get up and not allow the Steelers to come back in the game if they get up on em'. The 2nd half meltdown to the Eagles was awful to watch, but they pulled it out in the end for me. The Steelers offensive line is not that great at all and is a shell of the lines that they have had in the past. The Cardinals will get a few turnovers, as they have an excellent and opportunistic defensive secondary with big punishing corners. This is gonna be one hell of a game, and not the Steelers blowout that the experts predict.Comment -

#113Guys! This betting thing is a marathon...stop chasing losses with bad money management! It is so frustrating to see guys take a hit then try to get it back by doing a lot of the same things that got them in trouble! And for the life of me how do you lose nine straight days?
I have been doing this thing for a long time, 35 years to be exact, and the reason I always win in the long run is because I wager with control. Always bet what YOU think are strong plays. If they are not strong do NOT bet them. Do NOT bet just to have some action on a game, that is the first sign of a degenerate.
Also, I know CK and others do not bet the SAME amount on each game but you have to really know YOURSELF to bet that way. If you are not 100% positive of your style of play then just bet the same amount on each game. And you should NOT be betting more than about 2.5% of your bankroll on any one game. In fact about 1% is a good wager amount.
Guys on these boards see others posting big wins and betting big amounts and they think they have to follow suit. Most guys on this board probably don't make $200 a day on their regular jobs, but yet they snicker at that amount if they make it wagering! Get real. Most of you if you could make an average of $200 a day could quit your day jobs. So get into reality guys.
There are others that will disagree and I understand...but discipline with both your wagers and money management are key to making money in the long haul.
Honestly, I would be sick to my stomach if I lost $17,000 in the last week or two. With this board, and all of the knowledge, that is inexcusable!! Of course if you are laying $3000 to $5000 a game that is understandable. But if you have a $35,000 bankroll and are betting that much a game you are an IDIOT!
What I have found out over the years is that guys think they are much better cappers than they really are. Hockey, you might be one of those. And those guys will go on big winning streaks, but invariably they fall back fast.
Slow and steady makes the money boys. You will not see me making a lot of plays here, this thread has some good players on it right now and we don't need more guys just throwing plays out. But you will see me trying to give guys good betting advice.
There are two parts to making money gambling. One is betting good plays. The other is money management. Without both of these working for you, you will LOSE.Comment -

#116I blow,I admitted it,but I am super super competetive, its not about the money for me at all,all losing 17k to me is that I was beat at a game,I dont like getting beat. I will reload 100 more times before I will quit and admit defeat, its just my personality, everything you say is 100 percent correct, but I do bet just for the action, and I want to win, losing sucks,bt its not because of the money for me. When I play a game I do the reaseach,I beleiive its the right play and I make it,lately I have been scrwed more ways than I can count, ever had a hockey play over 5.5 when it was 3-2 with 14 mins to go in the second period and finished 3-2? well thats how you lose 11 days in a row.Comment -

#118Great points and well said DD. One more thing to add. Gambling and alcohol do not mix (unless you've already made your plays). I did go through my bankroll attempting a chase system for the first time. Candidly didn't know exactly what I was doing and got away from what worked for me. I typically do not exceed a 3% bankroll play on a strong play. Got into the "I'm bound to win this one" frame of mind after a significant number of losses and cocktails and rolled the dice with an amazingly stupid large bet and well ... you can figure out the results. It's back to what has worked for me now and hopefully getting back on track. Keep up the good work folks, I appreciate it as I'm sure most others do.Comment -

#119I've noticed that CK's better half seems to never get a Bobcats game wrong, and if she is picking Phoenix, I shall follow with that same pick.
Also, Dexter I love what you said about that Sixers-Knicks game and I will be saving some cash to throw on Philly depending on the line.
Anyone think 216 points is WAY too high in the Cavs-GSW game? People honestly expect the Warriors to be able to score on one of the best defensive teams in the league?Comment -

#122mixpicks,
Ihad my finger on the Celtics pulse the whole way through their cold streak and I started wagering on them again in the Cleveland game, which of course they lost, but it did not deter me, as I have taken them every single game and every single first quarter since then with the exception of last night's game against the Magic, and the only reason why i didn't ride them last night was because i was fully vested with what i like to put out on an average night. The spreads are gonna get higher in a couple more games, so ride them until the wheels fall off.Comment -

#124hey, devilDog: That is some good sound advice. Gambling/Investing 101 Bet What You Can Afford To Lose.
your correct about the amounts, it's funny when people say "your only betting $200 on a game, then they make 400 a week at their job (all Week) but what is the correct % to bet thats the question everyone ask, don't know If their is a correct one. IMO, bet an amount that will not make you sick to lose and a amount that makes you a bit excited to win. the main thing, is to "Stay In The Game" and take $ out. whenever, possible. and don't play everyday, play lose. ok, sorry to clutter your thread ck. I realize this should be for current game Info. but, I think If I lose 9days in a row, (any advice may be helpful) and I personally would bet $20.00 a game the the next 9 days. (to stay loose) stick with one method. I don't even like to know the out comes eachday, I try not to even look at the balance, when putting in my bet, like to look at it at the end of the week. Anyway, hope some of this is somewhat helpful. GLTA

#125The Nets will get blown off tonight against the Spurs. I think that I will play them tomorrow though, but today is gonna be tough against the Spurs who are well rested and have a player on their team that is unguardable (Duncan) for the Nets. The Spurs smalls are better than the Nets smalls, and that is what normally gets them through. Devin Harris is good, but he is fragile and in and out of the lineup too much. he needs a strength and conditioning off season program to be sure. I am holding off of the Nets for their matchup with the Grizzlies on Saturday, which will be one of my final competiton picks in addition to:
Jazz-3 (projected)
Sixers-7.5 (projected)
Sacramento+4.5 (projected)
Nets+2 (projected)
These will be my final four for the competition. I will play the Heaters too but I will be buying a few points to insure a close game, so obviously I won't be able to use that one in the competition.Comment -

#126isiah121,
I had the Oilers at a pick. It's what the line should be anyway. The Pacers beat them earlier this year, and it was a close game in the 4th quarter. This game will be a squeaker, make no bones about it. I like the Oilers to even the score with the Pacers, and pick up the win in a nailbiter. The Rockets with their current inury situation shouldn't ever be favored on the road to begin with.Comment -

#130ck: Yes, (I was happy for the cold streak too) I do remember, week or so ago, when everyone seemed to give up on them, and I was thinking just a matter of time, then you said Boston Every night, then I replyed YES, That Makes Sence, Now, It's continuing to make dollars. I Have To Say, Last Night, I would have played Magic, with their rest and home record, then I remembered, and Glad I did.
They, should be coming up as DD Favs. for a while. betting them 1st Q even if they don't cover the game I Think they will continue winning 1st Q I also, think a lot of their upcoming games will also go under the total. esp. when the spot is right, like lastnight. I will look at the shot again, from lastnight, and when it is the same "Spot"=same bet, hopfully same result... BOL Keep Up The Good Work!Comment -

#132hey ck, i like to rockets tonight. i think they will revenge their losses earlier. what do you think of suns under 200.5? bobcats are No. 7 in the NBA defensively and have given up an average of just 87 PPG in their last five games. rockets over 209? indiana will push up the tempo. what about warriors +6.5, ellis is back and they play well at home, cle is having injury probs. knicks -5.5? they play well at home and they are also very dangerous from the outside while the Grizzlies have struggled to guard the perimeter.Comment -
