Just a quick note... for anyone using the hoops database 7 excel sheet, the macro running the update scores is miscalculating the odds from the scores & odds website because that site has changed its reporting format and excel web query is not re adjusting the data creating errors on the stats page.

Suggest using manual input for odds and totals from sbr scoreboard for uniformity of tracking closing odds... http://www.sbrodds.com/scoreboard/nba.html?l=9

I generate power ratings daily and I can assure you there are no errors with version 7 of the NBA spreadsheet. If anyone bothered to read my comprehensive instructions as how to use the spreadsheet, this would not be an issue. In my instructions I made it very clear that on very few occasions scoresandodds changes their line reporting format maybe once or twice a week. Example, at times scoresandodds will have a line such as -2 -05 and for some reason the spreadsheet recognizes this line as - 7 in the LINES tab. If you click on any line in the LINES tab you will notice the spreadsheet calculates the line as a -2 + (-5) = -7. Therefore when the lines are automatically updated under the STATS tab you will get a -7 which is incorrect. The line should obviously be -2. Thats why it is always important to check the lines that are automatically updated in the STATS tab and if incorrect manually change them. As far as scores are concerned, I have never found any problems yet. Finally when updating the power ratings, this is always performed under the Ratings tab only, by clicking on the update box.

One final thought, the excel spreadsheet never uses the lines to generate power ratings anyway and there are definitely no errors.

sorry Wiz, this was my first instance of this happening. Also almost done with the Coll scores sheet. So many deletions to take out due to the number of teams that the database has in use, as compared to the entire NCAAB Schedule.

Mike, I am glad you brought it up so we can remind people that at times the lines at scoresandodds are incorrect. Anyway I was wondering how you were going to capture the 151 college team scores and odds and ignore the teams we dont have in our database.

I only see two and I wanted to know if you have em too, its Clemson upto -8 and AZ st upto -8 ? right or wrong or am I missing some plays ?

Well Dallas was a no play anyway for me, because Dal was only +3 1/2 and the system said +4 or more

they would have LOST at PLUS 4 as well, whats the difference? this system blows, it rarely finds a an easy win, and most lose

Yesterday our system went 1-0
YTD 66-43=60.6

Picked up 2 additional winners with IND and LAC using Sportrends PR's which happened to agree with our H/A PR's.

I am receiving a ton of PM's as to when is the best time to make your plays. My first rule states, always make plays 10 to 15 minutes prior to tip off. Because of this rule we avoided 2 loses last night with PHI and NO.

I usually wait until each team gets about 15 to 20 games under their belt for NBA.

As far as college or pro football I start immediately. I use the last 3 dates from last year.

I am not sure what you mean by reset. All I do is leave the date as is and click on the update based on date button.

if the you change the date the data will change with it. so if you want to look at the past 2years you would select a date from 2006 - 2007 season and the system would spit out different teams to pick vs. a date like 1/01/2009. Last night i pick 3 dates when the season started november 1 (roughly) 1/01/09 and 1/31/09. each time i got different results. What i did notice to be a stronger play was the teams name that appeared each time i changed the date (ie Indiana). I was not sure what date to select. So I have started watching 3 dates to see what the results are. The more recent date you use will give you a better look at how the teams are performing. I think. I'm a rookie and I need help. thanks.

Yesterday our system went 1-3
YTD 67-46=59.3

Yesterday if you followed sportrends NBA PR's they went 1-1. The win was SAN which dropped out from our system when the line went from - 5 to - 1. Therefore you should have picked up the SAN play. So yesterday you should have gone 2-3 in the NBA following both PR systems.

Secondly, for those of you who are following Sportrends college PR's, plays went 4-1, so overall yesterday we all should of had a winning day going 6-4.

Thats why its so important to look at all PR's including your own systems to make a decision.

The College PR's have been very profitable as well. I am still getting many PM's from you guys regarding when to put your plays in. Again you have to read the posts. It is imperative you wait 10 to 15 minutes prior to start of game before pulling the trigger. Last night was another perfect example. We saved ourselves another loss on the BOS game by waiting and watching the public drive the line up from - 9.5 to - 10.

Your goiing to have to go back and read my posts where I provided the College and Pro hoops PR links. Maybe someone else here can provide them to you.
Secondly, there are no picks. You take their PR's, add 3 pts for HCA and then calculate the play yourself using the 2 pt overlay such as we are using in our system. I use them to confirm my plays and if their PR's provide opposite plays I stay away from the game.

Need some help answering questions

Guys I am getting bombarded by PM's daily. If anyone has a question as to how to calculate the plays from the spreadsheet, where to get sportrends PR's for college and pro or whatever, please post them on the thread and hopefully some of you can help me by answering these questions.
