"Hey Mr. DJ, spin some Thin Lizzy"

Now a song about a gambler who's down on his luck, and just wants to move from Saturday Alley up to Sunday Street.

This is the late, great, Dave Van Ronk
Give it a listen, you'll be glad you did.

As the late, great king of all DJ's Casey Kasem used to say "this long distance dedication goes out to BOA12"

Thanks for the request, I forgot just how good he was, used to listen to him with "Hot Tuna" and "Little Feat" et al when I was a kid and teen.

Being dubbed the king of seamless seques, let's stay with the coal theme and spin a quirky tune from a band I personally like a lot.

And as per usual I thank you for your kind words, they are not necessary, but I appreciate it, and if you don't stop you're going to have to open two doors just to get my head through.

Keep on posting those pony threads and selections, I for one appreciate them, I used to play the ponies at Monmouth Park when I was in my 20's in the swamps of New Jersey where I was born and raised.

Do you know the story of Stagger Lee?

Since we started out with a Casey Kasem reference, let's close with one, shall we.
Casey used to sign off his broadcasts with...

"Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars".

Thanks for the Old school memories, I grew up with WLS AM until I discovered The Loop FM in a '68 Dart I bought for $100 with a FM radio stuck on that Rock station. Sadly, the Loop went Christian Rock about 3 years ago. What a shame though many replacements exist. BOL and thanks for the contribution.

Stagger Lee, I do not know the story. Have a friend named Rick Lee who staggers when drinking.

    Whip it, whip it good.

    True legendary story.
Stagger Lee was not a nice fella, oh no he was not.
At the turn of the century, in the 1890's Stagger Lee (Lee Sheldon) was a pimp and a saloon gambler.
He pretty much terrorized the po' sections of St. Looie Misery.

Stacker Lee had a gambling partner, his name was Bill Lyon.
Billy was a journeyman, was a horse buggy driver and worked as a levee hand on the mighty banks of the raging Mississippi River as well.

On Christmas Ever of 1895 Billy Lyons and Stacker Lee were shooting dice in a saw dust drinking joint when the two men snotted on King Kong liquor began arguing politics (legend has it the argument was over a dice roll, but witnesses all say it was politics) well push came to shove when Stagger grabbed Billy Lyons brand new Stetson hat, Billy attempted to snatch the hat back, and got two in the gut (legend has it it was two between the eyes, but not true) it was the stomach.

Stagger shot po' old Billy dead.

Lloyd Price made the story popular with his top Billboard selling hit called "Stagger Lee" back before your pal Nasher was in diapers, when the T-Rex roamed my daddy's back yard for grazing purposes.

The song was covered by a local Jersey band, and one of my favorite musicians "Southside" Johnny Lyons and the Asbury Jukes.

Give the story a listen, Southside explains the legend at around the 5:00 mark the video is old and a tad grainy, but I still love it.
(I can explain the WNEW-FM and Allison Steele reference at the six minute mark, it's a local thing)

I submit for your listening pleasure, you'll be glad you did, and no need for thanks, glad to do it.

And before we move on to other topics.
I used to have trouble with imbedding youtube clips in the past.

You are a beyond brilliant gentleman so I hope you don't thinK I'm talking down you.
What you want to do is copy the url from the youtube clip you wish to add to your SBR post.
Once you copy the url from youtube you'll see the little youtube icon on the tool bar right above you.
Click that, you'll get a drop down that says 'insert video clip' that's where you paste the url you copied.
Right click or use the ctrl v option, and hit OK in the section of the post where you wish to plant the video.

    Final one, I promise.
I am an actual friend of the band The Killers.
They are also my favorite band of many favorite bands, I know two of the members.

Final clip here in this thread, the ultimate break up song, and it's a stomper as well.
Best of luck today, SDSU/UCONN money line parlay for me tonight.
