R1 #5 charlie'sarchangel (3-1)
left this one out but since it's the opener take a shot..4 and 5 came out of the same $16k claimer at cd ,knocked heads all the way around with the 4 winning by a half length..interestingly enough both went off 5-2 with the 5 positioned just inside the 4 (posts 3,4 last race)..
also both were claimed last race for $16k..this time obviously it's flipped around post wise (advantage outside)..5 is considerably younger and has exactly half the career races of the 4..also 5 has been claimed 5x in his last 10 starts and his trainer is ridiculous dropping off the claim..irad will be riding..realize he's not exactly a reach (which I've done a lot of today lol) but like all the plusses vs the 4
R2 #3 prime della (12-1)
firster by #1 and above avg first out sire into mischief.. ships up from mth with some nice works under her.. trainer can pop with a debuter at a price
R3 #1 gussy mac (30-1)
as a 2yo won in his 2nd start after missing by 4.5 lengths in his debut off coming back in 17 days.. today 2nd off a long layoff after losing by 4.5 lengths and back in 17 days.. last start his first try in a route and ran evenly behind a tepid (being kind) pace.. interesting this horse was so effective at 5f as a young 2yo last year when he's bred to run all day.. trainer excellent numbers 2nd start with him and 2nd off a layoff
R4 #2 come storming (15-1)
ran well twice at this level here last year and 1 of the races he was up close to a very fast pace.. the other he had a very wide trip with the same jock riding him today and missed by < 1 length.. think he probably got some nice foundation staying within a couple of lengths of the pace call (1 mile) at 1 1/4 at belmont last out.. trainer good on the turf (roi factored in) over a huge sample
R5
field is loaded even by saratoga standards and in all honesty this could be the best msw field of the meet..talking first timers that were expensive auction purchases and shug has a home bred big pedigree firster.. brad cox is the ml favorite with a 2nd timer who ran big first out at churchill.. can't just pick 1 here but these two are very solid and hopefully fly a little under the radar in this bunch

saratoga
R5 #7 montaulk point (3-1)
R9 #6 maryland brando (10-1)
R11 #1 crump (20-1)
godolphin homebred by into mischief out of an a sw ap indy mare..pretty darn good pedigree and way above avg for off tracks..bumped start and did absolutely nothing in his debut at cd last year as a 2yo..waited all this time to try him for start 2 here..I kind of view that as a positive that they feel good enough to give it a shot vs saratoga maidens..a horse with a pedigree like this healthy can be anything and the debut assures big odds..intrigued at a price
monmouth
R4 #10 comedic timing (20-1)
what they paid for this horse at auction is a lot more significant as into mischief fee has tripled over that time..off slow on the turf last out and could see a wake up on the dirt this time..kind of similar to crump at saratoga who is also by the same sire..no better time to break your maiden than on haskell day .outside posts in sprints at mth do fantastic..trainer excellent turf to dirt
sloppy fine
haskell
#3 mandaloun (2-1)
I think it's possible there were no other spots coming up soon to run #1 following sea (3-1) and todd didn't want her to sit idle..think the forego at the end of august is probably the goal
this one should love the off going
..happens to be another into mischief
out of an empire maker dam..race record speaks for itself

didn't see the gallop out pigpen but he was coming pretty good at the end.. connections are probably very happy with that.. I think there still could be some value there next out.. wasn't overly obviousComment -

R7 #7 spinning year (12-1)
msw but not for 2yo's
homebred firster with a really nice pedigree for going up against a field of small track maidens ..win early/class on top and class on the bottom (dam sire)..workouts are on the slow side but never avoid playing a horse because of that...acknowledge it is possible she is just slow but plenty of firsters win with slow/avg works and it only helps the price

#99saratoga
R2 #4 point of humor (10-1)
a 6 year old maiden making his 18th career start usually not a good thing but there are some interesting circumstances here.. 14 of the 17 starts were on turf and today we're on the dirt.. can only see his last 2 dirt tries (goes back 10 so missing 1).. 4 starts back up close to a sizzling fast pace (by figures) and faded badly..6 starts back (his 2nd attempt on dirt) would probably win this race or easily put him in contention..also it was at 6.5f and 6f (today's distance) might have made the difference.. realize we're going back to December 2019 for this race but still find it interesting.. 2nd start for the horse with this trainer (who's off to a great start at the meet).. and ridden by co-leading jockey saez.. trainer solid 2nd off the layoff and going turf to dirt
R4 #2 dancing kiki (9-5)
finally where she belongs class, distance and surface
R5 #6 hope over fear (12-1)
often talk about value for the specs and this debuter fits that even though she's only a high 5 figure auction purchase.. sire is a newbie but dam sire is well above avg on turf.. trainer a hall of famer who I've seen over the years win with debuter's going two turn s on the lawn and his stats reflect that..was worked regularly at payson park from early april to early may.. took a month break and was worked regularly at saratoga including a quick move 2 days ago.. many of the others fast which I think is interesting for a mott debuter going long..should be plenty fit.. top jockey saez rides
R6 #4 quaysadilla (12-1)skip the write-up.. fts with lots of good things pedigree-wise.. understand the ml though
R7 #2 irresistible girl (12-1)can explain the bad effort last race (fast pace, route) but 2 back which was first off the claim not really.. still lightly raced and many efforts make her competitive here and saez jumps aboard.. 2 and 3 posts place to be in 6f sprints over a multi year sample

#102R1 #7 stolen base (4-1)
this msw race is limited to horses that were purchased for $45k or less so not nearly like an open one..gotta like a horse with that name as a fts ..dam sire speed and class and dam has already produced a nice horse from only 2 to race..solid steady works and trainer/jock are a good combo
R3 #4 no burn (12-1)
find it a little interesting when a guy like mott is involved with a very cheap horse and has enough faith to put him in vs the killers in this race
R5 #6 durkin's call (6-1)
won cutting back dropping to an extended sprint off a 1 turn mile 3 starts back..very similar running lines..was a reclaim 3 starts back for a trainer who is excellent in claiming races
