              THURSDAY

              Oaklawn Race No. 1 (2:05 p.m. ET/ 11:05 a.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes #8 Bullion (6/1 morning line). “Trainer Larry Jones returns this colt back to the $30,000 level after a dull effort. He reached a career-best Beyer Speed Figure two races back. Best Ragozin number wins this. Combo of Jones and jockey Joseph Rocco very strong this year, hitting at 33% and $3.52 ROI.”

              Gulfstream Race No. 6 (3:43 p.m. ET/12:43 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes #1 Rhythm With Soul (10/1 morning line). “Rhythm With Soul returns from a looooong layoff for trainer John Kimmel with two equipment changes: blinkers and now a first-time gelding. Was highly thought of as a 2-year-old and ran in Grade 3 Pilgrim off a maiden score at Saratoga. Steady works and Kimmel shows big profits when using blinkers for the first time. Should be ready at this $30,000 level.”

              Gulfstream Race No. 9 (5:17 p.m. ET/2:17 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #5 Charlie the Greek (5/1 morning line). “He wins if he repeats his last-out winning effort against a similar field of 11 hard-chargers. Trainer Ralph Hess Jr. (9-4-1-0 at current meet) spots his horses to compete as well as any: witness 6-year-old Charlie the Greek finishing first or second in 23 of his 52 starts, including nine scores at Gulfstream. Journeyman jockey Paco Lopez retains the ride. Wager: Win & Place.”

              Gulfstream Race No. 10 (5:47 p.m. ET/2:47 PT)

Dave Tuley likes #2 Real Money (10/1 morning line). This 5-furlong turf sprint has plenty of speed, but Real Money should be able to get out front from the No. 2 post and lead the field around the track. I’m obviously hoping he doesn’t give up the lead late like he did in his most recent race under jockey Tyler Gaffalione, but keep in mind that was his first race after a five-month layoff (and though most people will focus on the fact he finished sixth, let me point out that it was by just a combined 1 3/4 lengths). Rain is in the forecast, but I’ll stick with Real Money regardless as I don’t expect any mud to be getting kicked in his face.

Jeff Siegel's Best Bets For Gulfstream

GULFSTREAM PARK - RACE 8: Post 3:52 ET.

                                    4-Jades Gelly (5/2)

Lightly-raced 3-year-old filly, claimed back for $50,000 by Wesley Ward (always a positive sign), broke her maiden in January with a good speed figure and today is protected in a sign of confidence. She’s removing blinkers (an unusual change following a win) and appears most comfortable when held up early and allowed to run late. We're hoping to see her within range to the head of the lane and then exert her superiority in the final furlong.

GULFSTREAM PARK - RACE 9: Post time 4:23 ET

                                    2-Yodel E. A. Who (7/2)

The Saffie Joseph Jr.-trained gelding isn’t quite as fast on figures as the expected heavy favorite Fortin Hill, but he’s a tough-as-nails veteran turning back from a series of longer races and always has given the impression of being most effective sprinting. In the money in nine of 10 starts over the Gulfstream Park main track, the son of Creative Cause has a history of firing his best shot fresh and in his first outing since February appears primed for a major effort.

                                      FRIDAY

                                      Tampa Bay Race No. 8 (3:58 p.m. ET/12:58 p.m. PT)

Dave Tuley likes #3 Kitchen Fire (8/1 morning line). When I was first learning this game 30 years ago, one of the first lessons taught to me by my mentor Rick Grad was to look for early speed (Grad also loved horses like Kitchen Fire going from turf to dirt). There’s some others in this race who go for the lead, but none as consistently as Kitchen Fire and he has a great chance to wire this field at a decent price.

                                      Oaklawn Race No. 8 (5:38 p.m. ET/2:38 p.m. PT)

Duane Colucci likes #8 Zipp On By (6/1 morning line). “Sharp works for this horse off the layoff. Last race was a nice score at Churchill for $80,000 last November. Also won a stakes race at Mountaineer in August. This is a reasonable spot at $50,000 for his return with Miguel Mena in the saddle. Wager: Key with #2 Curate (7/2) and #11 Home Run Maker (15/1) and reverse in exotics.”

                                      Gulfstream Race No. 10 (5:47 p.m. ET/2:47 p.m. PT)

Ed Sehon likes #5 Bourbon Wisdom (12/1 morning line). “As a life-long wiseguy lover of Kentucky bourbon, I’m willing to make a hunch bet on this underachieving 3-year-old maiden. After a two-month break, he’s dropping in class today, adding blinkers for the first time, going from dirt to turf and cutting back in distance. New favorite jockey Chris Landeros gets a leg up from trainer Ian Wilkes. Wager: Win, Place & Show.”

Getting Lasix for the second time, he’s cutting back from a mile and an eighth for his second turf try. This maiden son of Street Sense appears ready to score from just off the pace. Apprentice rider C.A. Torres retains the mount. Wager: Win & Place.”

Dave Tuley likes #4 G Q Girl (10/1 morning line). This 6-year-old mare is 0-for-5 this year, so most bettors will be ignoring, but there are several things that make me believe she’s primed to look more like she did last year when winning 6-of-13 races. She ran just seven days ago, which we don’t often seen horses coming back this quick, so that’s a great sign that she came out of her last race OK and trainer Gary Johnson wants to get her back in a race. G Q Girl was never really in that last race, but when she did start running she got up for fourth place and only lost by three and a quarter lengths, and that closing kick should come in handy with several speedsters in here. Johnson is also 26% when sending his charges from turf to dirt, so that’s another reason to view last week’s race as just a public workout for this. Wager: Win & Place.

This 8-year-old gelding has been flashing speed against better and now drops into this $35,000 claimer with a great chance to wire this field. Harryhee also has the best speed figure at the 6-furlong distance. Wager: Win & Place.

Several nice works and top jockey Tyler Gaffalione must break alertly to steal this turf mile at a price (she has a tendency to break slow).”

Duane Colucci likes #5 Wendell Fong (30/1 morning line). “I doubt this horse will go off this high in a solid return vs. some of these, including probably favorite Whitmore after a layoff. Two nice works and jockey David Cohen can get this horse up and turn the tables on Whitmore at a price. If it’s a wet track, Wendell Fong moves up even more.”

Adding blinkers and going from dirt to a turf sprint, look for Celia’s Song to be forwardly placed heading for home. Jockey Chris Landeros takes mount, apparently shunning an opportunity to ride for his father-in-law Ian Wilkes, who trains #1 Originator.”

Last year, she was the Kentucky Oaks winner and just cruised to a length score in the Grade 2 Azeri over this track. I see her wiring the field. No. 14 Ce Ce (7/2) could get up for the Place spot.”
