    Lkid1's NYRA
I re evaluated they other thread and realized I was forgetting the golden rule. I simply wasn't making straight win bets. I was pleased with the handicapping but, wasn't bringing in the money along the way of coming come to big scores. Also I wanted something just for NYRA and big races and/or carryovers.

I started on Wednesday's Card, last night, won't always post reasoning but a lot of times if I can type out why Im doing what Im doing , its helps me and gives me a chance to second take. Also I need to hold myself accountable with tracking daily , so i can learn from my mistakes

Of course all plays won't be official until posted after changes.

    Wrote some last night:

So I just absolutely love this Wednesday card, I mean top to bottom from a fan and gambling aspect. Unfortunately I have a work obligation, that I mostly likely can not get out of. Ill have to sneak off every 25 minutes to watch NYRA live on my phone if so.

Race 2 is all about #2 KATAMA BAY , Brad cox and Joel are on fire early in this meet, and really stand out in this field. They debuted at the 90k mdn level at 18/1 going 5.5 on the lawn finishing 8th outta 9 beaten by 8 lengths, but came back a 71 beyer. That race turned out to be a strong one and after joel went 4 wide on the turn, he backed off this one a bit. Been working evenly since and takes that big drop in this game, going into Maiden Claimers. Because this horse is going turf to dirt, we should get some value here. As i said this field is rather weak, the surrounding horses #1 BLUES CITY and #3 MR PHIL , could be on improve here and make a ton sense underneath. The only firster im interested in is #5 LIVEYOURBEASTLIFE , Franco for Abreu. Irad has one on the outside for Contessa first off the claim from Pletcher, who was a 100k purchase beaten fav the last week @ Saratoga. I remember fading this horse, as Todd doesn’t start his good 6 figure purchases at the Claiming ranks, if Contessa turns this one around in just a few weeks, then i’ll have to tip my cap and rip my ticket. Im getting greedy here, by not only singling but playing to win, on top of the 1,3,5 in Ex and Tri.

Race 3 is really nice 77k allowance race for only a 6 horse field. #1 OFF TOPIC Manny for Todd, is coming outta the G1 alabama finishing 4th behind DUNBAR ROAD, POINT OF HONOR, & STREET BAND. Nothing wrong with that at all ,eh? Has been in Graded stakes the last 4, but hasn’t won since breaking her maiden Christmas time in Florida. Makes a lot of sense, but not my top choice. #2 TAKE CHARGE AUBREY , is reunited w/ Jose Ortiz who this time last year won by 4 @ this level, beaten by a nose for 200k stakes, then won by 5 for 40k in an OC. That’s awfully impressive, but since the form doesn’t seem to be there, even this being a 3rd off the layoff try. Mr. Levine is stretching this one back out for this first time this year where they 4 2-0-0 and owns a 4 2-1-0 record at this track. I just prefer others here. #3 COTTONWOOD FALLS or #4 BRUCIA LA TERRA would be big surprises here. Now we get the the Chad Brown’s duo, #5 SMOOTH WITH A KICK , is a 650k purchase who broke her maiden by 5.5 @ the spa for the 90k mdn level. But then Chad drops this one into a 25kOC and runs 4th outta 5 beaten by 7.5. I know people aren’t claiming from Chad lately, but I don’t understand that, not like he needed the win for the meet. Put up a bullet since, but really leaves me with mixed feelings. However, his other filly is my top pick who I nearly singled. #6 FOOLISH LIVING , Another 650k purchase broke maiden on debut for 80k here pp 9 outta 10, followed up by being on the rail at saratoga , started terrible before a late rally to finish 6th beaten by 2.25 first time vs winners. Has 4 good works since, gets back outside, and Irad takes over for ice cold Javy who might of choose to ride the #5. I would like to use the 1,5,6 and put some win money on the #6.

The pace is really tough to figure in this race, Im guessing Johnny on the #3 and/or Jose on the #2 get the front, I just hope that they don’t let one get too soft up front as all 3 horses Im using need pace to run after, especially the top selection and that’s why I didn’t single. As im typing this , its concerning me, but im not going 5 deep in this 6 horse field.

Race 4 starts the late pick 5 which is really tough imo, it’s really open. If I play a ticket Lots of familiar rivals here if you follow NYRA , side note TROUBLE FOR SKYLAR is only ever entered as a MTO lol, always trying to catch an off the turf small ill-prepared field. This race is wide open, #1 DANCINGWTHDAFFODLS , has some things to like i suppose, 1-1 at the distance and gets Jose who rode this one twice losing by a hd and winning by a nose (in an identical race to this one) Ever since I asked STR about seeing this PREVIOUSLY TRAINED BY so and so, Im seeing it all over the place, and been noticing its been more of a negative just to change barns with no explanation. I can’t get behind, but understand if you do getting jose and dropping . #3 FACTOR , is taking the drop, 2nd off the layoff , Johnny comes back for Michelle Nevin. Hasn’t won in quite some time and just another i can’t get behind. Kinda of caught my eye as a hunch play because I have seen a lot of THE FACTOR’S winning lately. #5 MORISSETTE , is another I guess makes some sense, just missed with joel, and he returns for joe sharp. But that was on the slop. Did run a good race in jersey 3 back on the grass, but finished well behind the rail horse who we aren’t using 2nd back. and I can’t get behind. Just hoping those types get over bet in this deep field. #5 AMANDA LANE , Joe bravo for Ed Barker, and caught my eye right of the bat. This 5 year old into mischief , is 2 for 24, but only 5 turf tries. What stood out was the last time he was 3rd off the layoff won an inner turf 66k allowance race here @ 60/1. This horse is going to be a big price , but seeing something like that and I like that Its Jersey’s Joe’s only listed mount. #8 GOLCONDA , is probably the going to be the favorite (typing this Sunday Night) Jason Servis, somehow gets this one from Chad brown, another one of those PREVIOUSLY TRAINED and put in a 30kOC in jersey ran 3rd beaten by a length. Hasn’t been back in the gate for over 2 months, and Im in no means in love with this one, but have to use. #9 MOYNE SPUN , is JJ for Brad Cox, if you draw a line through this one’s lone allowance try 2 back, you have 1st, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd in the last 5 at the claiming ranks. Clearly a player here. Im using the 5,8,9 in the early pick 5, but can’t double it up on the late pick 5, as the rest of the sequence is brutal and my single would have to come in the big race of the day, which is really competitive as well. I think you could try to get a 5,8,9 Ex Box home but even that is iffy and I don’t like to box without a key horse anyway. Especially im guessing the 8 and 9 will be short prices. Im relooking over and seeing that their is a ton of pace here, it could set up for the #5 horse at price, maybe I’ll throw a few bucks on a win ticket at a price. Looking even closer @ #5 AMANDA LANE, gets that win with an 85 from off the pace last time 3rd off the layoff. Then didn’t put a terrible # @ 74 first time off the layoff @ the spa, and just draw a line through the slop try last out. Starting to like this one more and more.

Race 5 , #2 WAYNES FOOTSTEPS is must include, This 3 year has speed and hasn’t been beaten by more than 1.75 on the turf. Im assuming will be on the rail and be sent, since the #1 JIMMY JAZZ , Im pretty sure i saw run over the weekend. #4 QUIET OUT EAST , is 5 outta 8 in the trifecta, Clement’s barn been hot, and Manny always rides. This one stretches back out and gets back on the turf. Should be be right there again. #5 KLICKITAT , Like the #4 also finished behind the deuce in a previous race, and also just ahead in a prior, but gets the drugs today. Javy takes over the reins and has been working well. The Pick even though Castellano is so cold. Both the Ortiz Brothers have horses in here as well, but just not interested in either here.

Race 6 , #1 RIKEN , is being sent out on the lawn by David Donk for only the second time. put up a 77 in first try, but is coming off the layoff since derby week. Franco was aboard this horse to start career and comes back today. The work tabs look solid, and could be a factor at a price. #2 MYSTICAL SONG , has been putting speed numbers that fit here , Ubillo has this one working well, and wouldn’t be a surprise. #4 CRACK SHOT , This is your favorite, but I think very vulnerable. 110k purchase trying winners for the first time. Did just miss on this turf course in june, and Jose has rode the last 2, including breaking the maiden @ Saratoga. This race is one of the reasons I might play this late pick 5 investing a big ticket, because its deep and the favorite here and Servis favorite in 4th, can be beat. Kelly Rubley sure is feeling confident, shipping this 25k OC 5 year old up the coast and bring the pilot , jumping way up in class. Thats the number #4 JO’s BOLD CAT . But i just don’t se it even with the strong works. Even the #6 THREE OUTLAWS , first off the claim for Bruce Brown , Joel gets the nod. Just missed by 2 @ 80k level last time going dirt to turf, Definitely a contender at a price. #7 CONSTANT KNIGHT , Is another price horse that’s very live. Torres only mount of the day and broke their maiden here last year before halloween. #8 BOURBON MISSION , has experience vs a few in here. Irad rides again for Joe Sharp, and takes the small drop. I just can’t get behind this one gettin the win @ 3/1 or anywhere near that price. Pletcher had to drop this one into M C 25k to break the maiden.

Race 7 , is the 150k Stakes. This is an excellent race with a ton of 2 year old filly potential. #2 TIME LIMIT Broke her maiden by 6.25, stumbled and ran 5th of 5 next out in the 100k Stillwater, then just missed by a neck to the #6 horse last out for 200k. Gets 4th rider in 4 races, Goes from Javier, to Jose, to Irad, to now manny. Not to shabby lol. Maker has this one improving and form is there. Most likely underneath imo. #3 THEA’S THEME , I loved this filly’s performance in debut , only got a 78 beyer but nosed out a next out winner. Jose Returns and 6/1 is a steal. I love the work after the race 8/25, then followed up by just even works I think is a positive. Now the talent in this field is deep, but I think this is the pick. #4 IRISH DANZING , was ultra impressive in debut , winning by 6.5 with a 91 beyer, but that race turned out not being as tough, and I think this one being 9/5 is way over bet, but clearly a huge player. #5 NAKED AVENGER & #1 IICHESTER CHEETAH , both put up 80’s in winning debuts, but would surprise here. To close out the field you have another short price we spoke of earlier beating the #2 , its the #6 FIERCE LADY , Already won vs winners for 200k , never beaten by more than a nose and always over 90 speed figures. So as I stated another race that is wide open and I just don’t love the short prices. I prefer the #3 THEA’S THEME.

Race 8 , #1 THEITALIANAMERICAN , Goes back into 62k mdn after cashing checks in, 150k, 100k, 200k races. But now the turf? Not sure what Contessa is doing here to be honest. They did give this one a turf work before the last. Rosario comes back. Mixed Feelings #2 FAME TO FAMOUS is your chalk here and probably deserving. I just couldnt single here either, as the #6 CONSTITUTIONAL PAL , I think is big player and I’ll be teaming up w/ the 2 im sure. Got bumped in debut on the dirt , and to ship here off some good works trying to turf , I think it makes a lot of sense. Weaver has a firster that manny is riding the #7 DANZING DUNHILL , Has some good works, but I’ll have to take a wait and see approach, maybe use underneath. The more interesting firster is on the outside for Mr. Gargan and Kendrick. #10 NEXUS , Expensive horse for the fee, but Brutal ask for the post position, My guess is Kendrick gets the one over early but simply too much to ask to win here.

good luck with the thread.. there's nothing wrong with keeping it simple imo and you pay lower vig.. 1 horse to win and place or 2 horses to win how I like to do it.. if one's a real longie maybe a little less on it but not so little that you'd get the same amount back as if you hit a 5-1..just my opinion of course

gonna look at card tomorrow.. supposed to be great weather

            LKID,

IMO, going back and analyzing one's betting patterns, thought processes, and performance is without a doubt the single most important key to having any chance at long term success in gambling or any type form of gambling.

This type of post analysis does not have to be about just betting horses, it can be about decision making when having to make decisions on a near daily basis in any walk of life that does so.

Constantly double checking your performance is something I was taught to do early on in business. And certainly my business, was a form of gambling as I had to map out spotting horses for races where sometimes I was dropping to steal a purse and sometimes I was dropping to get rid of a horse. Same thing went for claiming horses. It is the game within the game. And it's a gamble. Not talking about the windows, I'm talking about tens of thousands of dollar decisions with horse flesh, made almost daily.

But let's face it, it is really hard to do when you make a lot of very good decisions in a relatively short period of time, or, in simple terms, when someone is on a major winning role. Usually, it is easy to do after a tough meet or several bad decisions. But the way I way taught, analyzing the good runs, which human nature will push you away from because it is easy to get full of oneself after a winning run is just as important as when you are disappointed with ones performance.

I am so happy to read what you have done Kid. It's stuff like that that will keep your game sharp and on the improve. You are way ahead of the game with that thought process.

It is a good a single piece of advise as anyone could ever give to a public gambling board. I truly hope people take note of it. If so, they will be glad they did.

            GREAT job Kid!

Just a few notes if your following along, Highly recommended tailing the early pick 4, the late pick 5 i took a shot singling the 4th choice in a 6 horse field and because i did i dropped the 9 in the first leg and the deuce in the 2nd leg.

I really love the Katama Bay in the opener (race 2) first I was gonna just play $100 on ‘em and a $20 Ex, but Im betting smaller and using units. So it’s a max play. Trying to instill more discipline, and grind throughout the circuit. Also the horse is trying the dirt for the first time, so let’s not get too crazy.

Also will they finish this damn construction already, these 3pm posts during week, are annoying. Alteast the weather should be fast and firm all week.

                      Good luck to all

So if your following , might wanna tread carefully on horizontals , I singled 2 first time starters that I’m really high on , both at prices.

I also left some chalks off throughout

This card is pretty meh , especially early

lets see if we can get in the black today

Kendrick set good fractions and almost pulled the upset there

it woulda helped pick 4, as this next race chalk also

but it’s all about the price horse singled in the 5th anyway

Tomorrow Card is extremely Difficult, I have an aggressive Early Pick 5 that Im going after, build around a single in the second.

#7 Honey Graeme (5/2) , this filly just didn't show up last race down in Jersey finishing 7th beaten by 14 lengths. Just a different animal here @ Belmont, check out the last 3 races here. Won a 40k Allowance 88 speed figure w/ Jose. Beaten by a hd A this level with same speed figure, also with Jose who gets back aboard for this race. And won here last year as well.

#3 Noble Emotion (4/1) , Javy for Jonathan Thomas , Look when you debut a horse going a mile and 1/16th's on the turf its really telling, none of these have done that. 78k Mdn race turned out to be a pretty good one, Maxwell Esquire finished second and come back and won. This horse put up an 80 beyer ran 4th outta 10 and only beaten by less than 3. JT has great numbers 2nd time out on the lawn as well. They gave this one a nice work early this month, followed by 2 just going through the motions. $10 a ticket would be stealing money.

Just a different animal here @ Belmont, check out the last 3 races here. Won a 40k Allowance 88 speed figure w/ Jose. Beaten by a hd A this level with same speed figure, also with Jose who gets back aboard for this race. And won here last year as well.
Like the 7 also, the only thing that worries me is that there are speeds to her inside. From off the pace, I think the 5-Blissful Breeze might be good to use underneath.
