I love standardberd racing..Grew up with it. One thing that I always and still wonder is why thoroughbreds don't make the mid race rush to lead(brush and Crush ) like harness and then slow the pace down like the standardberds do. I remember years ago in big race in Dubai Japanese horse did that and was winning move https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ho0ZH14vO5U

          hardly ever see that move

I actually, believe it or not, like harness racing better myself..a big part of my capping is running lines that are not the typical ones people look for..the regularity with which standardbred's run and the small class moves if any play into things better than the thoroughbred's do..only like the major venues though as my methods are less reliable at minor tracks..so little bet as you know that these places are a turnoff anyway

as far as the mid-race rush just have a feeling that's something more easily done pulling a sulky than with weight on your back. .could be wrong but that'd be my guess..sounds like something str would understand if we asked him

Standardbreds are also more like machines lots tougher more push button trained plus they are more versatile running styles on pace off pace....
