#3True, this city builds a whole month around leading up to derby, and after that, it's nothing.Comment -

i know they been pushing for being able to have casino table games and slots to compete with southern indiana. So much potential revenue has been lost to people going across the river to play at casinos.Comment -

#6You know. I would 90 % of tracks are empty. Santa Anita. Gulfstream. The winter meet. Are heavy with people. And of coarse Saratoga. And del Mar. Are party atmosphere. Even Aqueduct. Doesn't draw like they used. Other than the major races. Like the has haskell Belmont stakes. . They are parties on that day. Laruel. Preakness day. I would think is there only really big day. ......I may be wrong. Here. But if it wasn't for simulcasting and casino at the tracks. The racing industry. Would be. In big trouble. Real big trouble.
Do you guys agreeComment -

overall and casinos are necessary to sustain it in most casesComment -

#8Ky tracks definitely need casino games to compete and to help with increasing purse winnings. The bad thing is all the mud slinging in politics, nothing ever gets done, and i dont predict the foreseeable future changing anytime soon.Comment -

#9Politics. True. I live in atlanticc city. And we are losing casinos. Job. Our racetrack clised. And there is only one casino that does simulcasting. .....all the other states around us are getting casino....the people in the state voted for sports betting. Something I believe will save this place ...right now my conto I believe has the highest foreclosure rate in the u.s. what the politicians won't let us get sports now. Is corrupt. They say it will hurt games. In the leagues or some mumbo jumbo .....who is getting paid off....are they that foolish .......that sports betting is going to happen. 200 billion a year. I may be wrong. But why won't they let us have something that will help this place....we do it anyway....Comment -

preview it at monmouth and then let the casinos have it a little further down the road but never materialized.. whole thing is ridiculous and it would be a big revenue producet
as you said.. I know they've been trying to get a casino in the old meadowlands bldg but the locals are fighting that tooth and nail.. be a perfect place for both and think eventually it'll happen.. sure when gural bought the track he had that in back of his mindComment -

#12It astonishes me that people still live in the NE, particularly Jersey ... (I used to live in Philly)
There comes a time when "Home" should be seen for what it is, a cesspool of people with a central gov't redistributing and getting less safe by the minute. Think about your future family and get the hell out of there.Comment -

#17i used to visit philly and jersey all the time as a kid, my dad was from there, but after he got out of the service he ended up in louisville, so thats where im born and raised, but we would visit every year as a kid growing up, i aint been back up there in probably 20 years, still got some cousins and aunts and uncles up there. I remember my dad always brought few cartons of cigarettes up for his mom and sister cause they were like a 1/4 of what they paid. I remember when they would talk about the cost of utilities and car insurance, it was insane the prices they would say they had to pay vs what we pay in louisville.
But i still had fun visiting and sight seeing. We would go to seaside heights, even though ive never enjoyed beaches, i liked all the shops and boardwalk and games and rides.
I dont remember ever going to a race track though, my dad not a gambling man, except lotto, he plays the zhit out of pk 3s and mega and powerball. And my papa just hung out at his vfw drinking with his war buddies and golfed sometimes.Last edited by louisvillekid; 05-09-17, 02:27 PM.Comment -
