#359Got some remarkable memories from that very same beach, I still remember the night I got so wasted I woke up at 11am, 4 hours late for my scuba tour, went to the agency, explained I can't remember half of what happened the night before, there was some naked girl lying in my bed, with her ripped off clothes on the floor, covered in booze
The guy just gave me a look: "told you to not go to slinky last night, here's your money back"Comment -

I've only been on that beach. Just went for a day trip from Phuket. The thing I liked was how warm the water was being relatively close to the equator.
For those who may think this looks familiar, this is the beach from the movie "The Beach" with Leo DiCaprio.Comment -

#361Hmm, totally possible. My ex lives in Bangkok so if I wanna stay longer, it's not a big deal. Not a huge fan of Bangkok but I used to teach private English lessons at the universities there for 20USD/hr and as you know, that's like 100USD/hr in NYC. Ugh, how bad do I wanna be in East Asia but how much school shit I have to do before I can go.... And I won't get my dissertaion marked till late June so they whole time I'm doing my thing I'll be a bit tense over the school. Might have to spend a few nights in the fun parts of Viet Nam, for medical reasons.Comment -

#362they're so nice. unlike Manila, Phuket is safe as shit. I always found if they thought you were a high roller they'd send 16 year old girls to your table/room/cabana and I don't roll that way but didn't want to piss off certain people. Aside from that, I had dudes find my wallet and return it with all the money in it, I'd offer a 50 or 100usd for the trouble and they'd turn it down and invite me to their house for dinner instead. Good fuking times.Comment -

#364It's not fair if only you, knickz and I have been, there's no way to explain it. I also spent a summer in southern Turkey near Fetihye a few years ago that rivals any trip to Asia. I'd wait a bit but the "Turkish Riviera" is insane. Different, but almost as good. I got engaged there, twice, in two months. Thank God for my reliable Canadian passport and their non-Canadian passports.Comment -

#366You been to South America yet? Not as cheap as Asia but definitely worth the tour, I rent a Harley in Argentina and traveled all the way to Colombia over the course of 4 months, all kinds of people from everywhere, it's a life changing experience

#369I taught English my first year out of HS in Sao Paulo. Most ****** up year of my life. Pretty sure I have a few kids down there. Can't wait to go back, especially Colombia, Venezuala, Peru, Chile and Argentina proper, prob next summer. Tough part is flying down, isn't cheap and it's not like SE Asia, accommodations aren't super cheap. Yeah yeah, I almost tried that crazy super LSD team where you throw up and see God. Next time for sure. I like the idea of renting the bike in Argentina. penetrate Brazil, been there, done it/them. I had 3 girlfriends in Brazil, they all had the same name: Lara. #375No kidding man, I'm Brazilian, altho I don't live in Sao Paulo, used to live there, but moved a lot over the years, you oughta know Northeast Brazil, that's where the good beaches are, which states have you visited during your stay in this god forsaken land?
I'm up to the Che Guevara tour (as I called it) again in a couple of years, if you know the locals in Buenos Aires you can get a good price on the bike, when you cross Chile is tough but that will give confidence for the rest of the trip, next time I'll cross the Amazon forest and do my second walkabout
Don't mind me talking a lot, I'm drinking (easily) and get very talkative

#377oh man, my year in brazil was nuts, i could write a book. i hit northern brazil a bit for surfing but never got to see the country like i wanted. i was 18, working 50hrs a week and had a lot of "girl" problems. had a 4 day trek into Rio the week I got there and almost got murdered. all i really remember was working, Caipirinha, phenomenal dope and wishing I didn't have to work. Can't wait to go back now that I have a bit of money. Brazilian women are a close second to East Asian women and let's just say, Brazil is close to Colombia and I wanna go to Colombia. lol.No kidding man, I'm Brazilian, altho I don't live in Sao Paulo, used to live there, but moved a lot over the years, you oughta know Northeast Brazil, that's where the good beaches are, which states have you visited during your stay in this god forsaken land?

There is so much shaming in the US. Someone with an unpopular opinion in the US could be welcomed with open arms for thinking that way in other countries.Comment -

#382I know every time I've left Canada (I've been to 29 countries), I always appreciate being Canadian. We get into it at hostiles in weird places like Lyon, Berlin, Moscow, Prague, etc cuz I know the fukers who are American but wear the Canada shit. If you're gonna be proud American, props to you cuz you'll feel it abroad and I respect that. If you're gonna pretend to be a Canadian, learn the fuking captial of the country and maybe a few other things. No offence, I've just been to too many places and seen too many douche Americans put their backpack with the Canada flag and not even know half the states in their own country, yet name 4 provinces. You guys might have the nukes but we're pretty scrappy about our patriotism, especially in European hostiles and bars. lol.Comment -

#384I'm from Recife, born and raised, there's actually shark attacks in the city beaches, so they are not swimmable, however you can find a ton of great ones within less an hour by car. It's not the big of a deal, the shark attacks are derived from the pollution caused around the city area, Recife is formed by half a dozen of islands and the sew can converge to the ocean...
You guys ever around these bands, hit me up, I'm not always in Recife, I use to travel a lot during the year throughout the continent, last weekend I was in Pipa, it's on another state, has a groovy vibe of a hippie beach, lots of foreigners there, it goes like this:
