#317Today's winner. SO many near misses. I'd list them but then I'll feel dumb if they hit. Let's just say: Toronto, CBJ and the Ducks would all be plays if not for pricing reasons. I don't mind paying juice if it's a near lock and Toronto at +135 but at o3.5 just missed making it. I may or may not play these myself but my goal here is to post the best of the best. Value is imperative.
Huge news as I'm making my first 2 unit post of the season (my unit size in my own betting is all over the place.) This cleared my fifth model with flying colours, the first play to ever do so. BOL on all your plays today/tonight.

#323Based on your research for your thesis, Flea, would you say TT's are an area where books don't have as much of an edge. It certainly seems like it, especially in the NHL. Your model seems to have cracked the TT code on this season.Comment -

#325My actual academic research is pretty far off from trying to cap sports, but I am a bit worried once my dissertation gets published, people will be able to use my work to crack my code. By then, I'll hopefully have version 2 of my system and being doing a postdoc somewhere, where I could actually do stuff related specifically to sports projections instead of commodities and socio-economic trends.Comment -

#328Weird, a friend of mine who bets pretty big just put a dime USD on the TT o2.5 an hour or two ago and the line is almost down to -130 on Pinny. You'd think most of the NHL action today would be on the Toronto/NYR game.

#329It cleared my first 3 models but got stuck in coin flip world in the 4th. I'd say it's a flip with the plus money. For some reason I see Anaheim winning 3-2. Just my two cents but there's better value spots. I could be wrong. Not a bad bet or a bad pass.Last edited by Flea Hotel; 01-19-17, 04:06 PM. #334I'm in med school. Wisely, or unwisely, I'm using some of my cost-of-living loans on sports betting lol. Winning money gives me a morale boost, esp. when I cash it out to pay for nights out on the town. My winnings are starting to pick up steam, trying to get some significant profit before all the major sports (I don't care about baseball) seasons endComment -

#335I'm playing NYI (-110) and the Flames (-119) for a sprinkle and San Jose PL -1.5 (+225) for whatever word is less than a sprinkle. I'm trying to ween off sides and stick to totals. 90% of my bets tonight are on team totals and NCAAB plays I'm tailing. What about you? I'll tail anything, especially Asian and under 25.Comment -

#336Cool. I always wanted to be a doctor. I got accepted to med school but only at maybe one of the worst cities in Canada and unlike doing a PhD, you gotta pay cash money for med school. Good for you though. Attendings drive a 5 series, attendings who know how to bet sports with a 50k roll drive a 7 series, so I've been told.My best friend is a first year surgery resident and dude literally only works and sleeps. He gets 35k CAD a year and is close to 200k in debt. He'll be laughing in 10 years but dayum.

The pipe dream of course is to be able to make a dent in my loans with my winnings haha.
I considered PhD and MD/PhD. Just couldn't see myself really getting into it. I didn't want to pause med school halfway through to do my PhD before finishing up with the clinical years of med school.Comment -

#339I did my MSc in stats and then applied to four med schools. sorta bombed mcats but did get accepted to one. got accepted to a bunch of good phd applied stats programs with good scholarships and went that way. i'll always wonder what Dr. Flea would have been like but I have enough friends who are med students or MDs and they all seem stressed as shit. And they won't even write me a script for 10 xanax's ffs. Still though, good for you, I know how hard med school and interning and being a resident will be. Hot Asian girls love doctors.50k/yr in loans (x4 years) for me and that's after scholarships and whatnot, and I'm lucky to have such supportive parents who help me out as well (I try to minimize it and I've forbade them from paying my loans).

Funny thing is everyone above us has been telling us that "2nd semester is the most fun ever" and "just wait" and whatnot. We're all pretty skeptical at this point bc we've been drowning thus far lol. But apparently once we're done with this month, we have a cakewalk for ~6 weeks where everyone gets shitfaced more nights than they're sober.
On the bright side, hospitals will never run out of hot 22 y/o nurses fresh out of school as long as I'm practicing hehe
I was a fine dining chef in my year between finishing undergrad and starting med school and I constantly wonder "what could have been" if I pursued that.

#341Yeah that sounds similar to what my friends say/said. I guess if you're book smart the first two years are manageable but then it turns to a weird medical version of the military, always answering to someone. I think even the astute students trade drinking for sleep after their second year. And yes, you'll have insane access to hot nurses FOR LIFE. Remember that when you're having a bad day.My entire class is borderline suicidal right about now. I've been wallowing in a pool of self-doubt and "I hate my life" this week.
