    Multiple Book Spreadsheet
Hey guys I've been running an excel spreadsheet for 6 months with one book. I'm wondering how you guys go about doing it with multiple books and keeping track of what balance is in what book and making sure everything goes as planned?

Maybe someone could post up their example spreadsheet?

    Thank you

I simply have a column to type in the sportsbook (along with odds, team, date, wager, result, P&L, etc etc), and then I can run a pivot table that groups by the book (or any other number of ways as I want it). Pivot tables are a fantastic thing.

      Hi FreeFall,

We actually have a online spreadsheet that you can use. It will keep track of all your plays across multiple books. Then you can even export those plays to forum.sbrforum.com for everyone to see.

To view your spreadsheet just go to http://freefall.mysbrforum.com/spreadsheet/

If you have any questions about it just let us know.

You would be better served creating a database that tracks that information, honestly.

                  Roasthawg,

Let me know if you run into any problems. Basically what you guys have to do is this, go to your main mySBR page by clicking the link under your profile here or simply yourusername.mysbrforum.com.

Then go to your spreadhseet at yourusername.mysbrforum.com/spreadsheet and just type in some plays. Go back to your main page, and do what it says in this screenshot and paste the code here in the forum. You would just hit add content->My Plays then click the "+" button and copy/paste that [spreadsheet] code in the forum.

Then it should look like this...

I'm a CSC major and even that doesnt make sense. If it's a DB or a spreadsheet it's the same idea/thing. I'd like an example.

Here is what a normal page looks like FF http://jjgold.mysbrforum.com/spreadsheet/

You can sort it by different books. Your spreadsheet is at FreeFall.mysbrforum.com/spreadsheet

No. It certainly isn't the same. If you have any programming skills at all, you would know that writing a front-end application to a DB can be far more efficient and powerful than a simple spreadsheet. It would be much easier to enter customized queries and extract useful data from the past. However, if you are simply using it to track your P&L without a need for historical queries then SBR's spreadsheet would suit those types just fine. I just do far more with my data and (wrongly) assume that others eventually will as well.

Last time I checked a spreadsheet makes for a nice DB foundation so this isn't an either/or issue or "better served" at all really.

Obv bringing info into a db from a spreadsheet isn't all that difficult. I think there are still advantages to starting from a spreadsheet that can export data to perhaps multiple db's for various categories of queries.

                              And I wasn't a CS major. Thanks.
