The Big Ten is officially awful
Michigan State is probably the cream of the crop, but that's not saying much. Offense with a lot of ? still, unimaginative play calling, sub-par receivers, etc. Defense is good -- still not sure about "great."

Ohio State will win, but only because the league is down. Miller is erratic. They're still in the transition stage, and will experience a few growing pains.

Michigan has looked bad so far defensively.

    Wisconsin is lost.

Nebraska just got torched by UCLA, and Martinez reverted back to the old Martinez in the second half.

Northwestern is 2-0, but their D is still very suspect.

Penn State is decimated. Horrible loss today.

Iowa was awful at home against Iowa State.

Illinois getting pummeled without their QB.

Purdue has a lot of starters back, but still botched a winnable game at Notre Dame.

Roberson got hurt for Indiana, who isn't anything anyway.

    Minnesota? Nope.

    Wow.

    Yeah. It sucks.

I actually like Michigan State to win the league before the year but their QB was horrible in the opener.

ohio state will shoulder the load for the rest of the conference. i can see urban meyer contending for a national championship in miller's senior year, kinda like what he did when inheriting chris leak. he will put enough pieces in place to get what he wants.

Bet North Western at 50-1 to win big 10. Good price worth a shot!

Considering it was his first start, I thought he did OK. Boise did a nice job of pressuring him, and his receivers sure didn't help matters much.

I'm not very impressed with MSU's wideouts. Put BJ Cunningham back on this team and they might be Top-5.

I'm not "bitching" about anything. This is actually a real-life, non-gambling discussion. The Big Ten stinks.

Give the wideouts some time they will start to get better. There all a bunch of a freshman and sophmores that havent played due to all Senior WRs they had last year. Arnett and Lippett will develop. Maxwells main security blanket is going to be Sims. He's big target with great hands for a TE. Teams will continue to stack the box to try to stop Belland Maxwell should have favorable matchups. I do think Spartans Defense is as good as it has been maybe ever. They have good corners, LBs and DL. There a little weak at Saftey but the corners help with that.(at least on short routes).

Big 10 overall is down though. Hell one of there best teams over the last few decades has been erased and another is on Suspension. Wisconsin looked horrible last weekend but think they bounce back and Michigan is a 1 man/dimensional offense with a very suspect Defense.

Last year in the Big 10

                          Nebraska

                          Who They Beat:
                          Chattanooga 5-6
                          Fresno State 4-8
                          Washington 7-5
                          Wyoming 7-4
                          Ohio State 6-6
                          Minnesota 3-9
                          Michigan State 10-2
                          Penn State 9-3
                          Iowa 7-5
                          58-48

(Note: If you take Penn State & Michigan State away from this schedule Nebraska's combined opponents record is 39-43. The reason I say take them away is because both of those programs are extremely OVERRATED as you will see as you keep reading)

                          Penn State
                          Who They Beat:
                          Indiana State 6-5
                          Temple 8-4
                          Eastern Michigan 6-6
                          Indiana 1-11
                          Iowa 7-5
                          Purdue 6-6
                          Northwestern 6-6
                          Illinois 6-6
                          Ohio State 6-6
                          52-55

(Note: A lot of people don't know this but so far Penn States most impressive quality win has came to either 8-4 Temple or 6-6 Ohio State?)

                          Michigan
                          Who They Beat:
                          Western Michigan 7-5
                          Notre Dame 8-4
                          Eastern Michigan 6-6
                          San Diego State 7-4
                          Minnesota 3-9
                          Northwestern 6-6
                          Purdue 6-6
                          Illinois 6-6
                          Nebraska 9-3
                          Ohio State 6-6
                          64-55

(Note: Michigan is one of those teams you first look at and you'll probably think "Oh, thats not too bad". But don't forget many of the teams who have winning records that they play consist of: San Diego State, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, and Notre Dame. Once again if you take the one decent team away, being Nebraska (Who we just saw how weak of a schedule they play) there combined opponents record drops to 55-52.)

                          Michigan State
                          Who They Beat:
                          Youngstown State 6-5
                          Florida Atlantic 1-10
                          Central Michigan 3-9
                          Ohio State 6-6
                          Michigan 10-2
                          Wisconsin 10-2
                          Minnesota 3-9
                          Iowa 7-5
                          Indiana 6-6
                          Northwestern 6-6
                          58-60
(Note: Michigan State is probably the most overrated team in the big 10. Look at that tough schedule and tell me who wouldn't be 10-2 at the end of the season?)

Some Things You May Have Missed:
-Notice that NO Big 10 team has beat an outside conference top 25 caliber team
-Against other BCS Conference the Big 10 is 3-4 (Those 3 wins consisting of Boston College, Arizona State, Washington who needless to say are all in the middle or bottom of their own conferences)

But We Have 10 of 12 Teams Going To A Bowl Game? We Are Certainly Not Overrated Right?

4 of the 10 Big 10 schools who will be in a bowl game are 6-6. Just think that's 4 games from having only half of your conference going. And those 4 schools do not look very deserving..

                          Ohio State
                          Who They Beat:
                          Akron 1-11
                          Toledo 8-4

                          Combined Opp Records: 29-43

                          Purdue
                          Who They Beat:

Definitely looks like a down year so far continuing their trend of losing to the Pac 10 the past weekend, 0-3.

My biggest bet soo far this week, was ripping the opener on Mich St over ND.

Big 10 did have a couple of nonconference wins from their lower tier teams, NW over Vandy and IU over UMass.
