Before I give this week's selections, let's reminisce about Week 3 real fast. Some thoughts...
What's with these stupid countdown clocks ESPN has on the screen before every semi-major sporting event? We all knew USC would blow 'em out, no need for the drama. How 'bout a "countdown until Erin Andrwss makes out with Suzi Kolber."
While watching Miss St. QB Wesley Carroll perfect the art of the incomplete pass during Auburn's 3-2 shootout win saturday night, I could only conclude that MSU's back-up QB must not have all four limbs.
FOXSports is going to aire it's Best Damn 50 Dumbest College Football Miscues Ever, and 42 of them were by Michigan in Saturday's game against Notre Dame.
Mizzou has agreed to use only 9 men on offense this week vs. Buffalo in order to play fair.
On to the picks (3-3 LW, 13-8 YTD, 2-0 Best Bets)
KANSAS ST. -4 @ Louisville
After watching the Louisville/Kentucky game earlier TY, I can safely assume that Louisville forgot to practice offense in the off-season. K-State is better on both sides of the ball, and the Sunflower State needs redemption vs. the Big East after KUs loss to USF. Kansas St. 31-17
WEST VIRGINIA -2.5 @ Colorado (Got 2.5 on Betonline.com Monday Afternoon)
Colorado only snuck by FCS Eastern Washington 31-24 last time out. WV got embarrassed on the road @ ECU. If WV can strike early, then they should regain confidence and turn this one into a route. But a slow start could demoralize them, like in the ECU game. I trust a Pat White led rushing attack to trounce a suspect Colo. defensive line. I also don't like Coors Light. West Virginia 42-20
UTAH -7 (-120) @ Air Force BEST BET
Lots of value here for Utah. AFA has looked impressive @ Wyoming and @ Houston setting up a small spread vs. a Utah Team that is clearly superior. Utah's explosive offense will be unleashed against an inexperienced AF defense that has yet to be tested. On top of that, Utah has the revenge factor, losing 20-12 LY in Salt Lake. Games between these two have been close in recent years, but Utah has its eyes set on a BCS game and should roll here with an experienced squad. I know it's unpatriotic to bet against the service academies, but I promise if Utah and Air Force were ever to compete in NCAA war games, my cash would be on AFA. UTAH 45-24
BYU -28 vs Wyoming BEST BET
I figured I'd have co-best bets this week. A little Mountain West two-fer if you will. Like Utah, BYU has it's eyes set on a BCS game. They need to impress the pollsters every week. Last week they pulverized UCLA. This week they play another much inferior team. Like Missouri, this team is overly confident in their offense, and for good reason. I don't see Wyoming stopping them the first 7 or 8 drives. Unless there is an emergency Mormon mission and half the BYU team has to catch a plane to Mozambique; this one gets really, really ugly. BYU 52-3
Central Florida +10.5 @ Boston College
BC has looked anything but impressive on offense this year and face a very tough UCF defense. They have no real offensive threat and their inexperienced defense blew a 4th quarter lead. Despite the disappointing loss to USF in OT, UCFs 4th quarter comeback has given them more confidence now in their offense, which was a huge question mark without Kevin Smith, who had a net 2567 yds last year, or more simply, 1.46 miles. This should be close from start to finish, and I'm calling for an outright upset. UCF 17-13
Good luck everyone!
