A&T is on the road against one of the biggest turnaround stories at the FCS level this season in Bethune-Cookman. BC has a great balanced offense that is averaging around 40 ppg. BC was picked to finish near the bottom of the league in preseason. They rank 4th in overall offense in FCS. A&T is in the bottom third scoring-wise, but they may be headed in the right direction following their first win last week against Hampton behind baseball player turned starting QB, George Hines. A&T has been trying to find a signal caller all year after their starting QB suffered a season ending injury in the preseason. A&T has been giving up points all season, but have not lost by more than 30. Bethune-Cookman have scored some massive wins this year, but in four of their last five, the margin of victory has been 23 or less [14 or less in three of those]. BC should win this with relative ease, but they have a huge game against Hampton next week, so once they get ahead they could put it on cruise control and allow A&T to keep within this big number. If A&T can get production from Hines and their stud RB Mayhew who is leading the MEAC in rushing ... the books might be giving us a nice break here.Comment -

Large total, but the play of both team warrants it for me. UCF has now scored 35 or more in four straight and 40+ in three of their last four. They go up against a Houston defense that has been gouged against the run, which happens to be UCF's strength. Houston's offense has scored against almost everyone. Even down to their 3rd or 4th QB, their totals have hit over tonight's total in seven of eight. UCF has a stout defense, but the best offense they played [ECU] put points on the board last week. The other spread offense that they played, NC State, scored 28. I think Houston will get theirs as the Coogs have topped 24 in every home game with three of their four home games seeing them hit for 40 or more. Their D has yielded at least 23 points in each home game. With UCF clicking on offense and Houston possessing a solid offense, I think the scoreboard op is going to be busy.Comment -

Page had a streak of four straight 100 yard games ended last week, but finished with 86 and had 94 yards before his 100 yard game streak began. Even with a backup QB in, he'll have a chance.

[8:00pm ET] MIAMI (OH)-BOWLING GREEN UNDER 51.5 [-105]
Miami has played UNDER the total in seven of their nine games this season while Bowling Green has been a big OVER team, hitting in that direction in six of nine games. Both defenses are iffy, while both offenses rely solely on the pass to score. The good news for each is that their defenses struggle more against the run which neither of these teams has done consistently. Miami has not scored more than 27 in any of its road games this season with four of five on the road going UNDER. While Miami could not contain out of conference opponents, their scoring per game defense has been steadier against the MAC with 21 ppg given up compared to 288 ppg vs. out of conference foes. BG has been able to put points up with 20 or more in six of nine games, but they have scored just 23 points in the last two games combined. Not coincidentally, their three lowest scoring games have resulted in UNDERs. Both these teams are also turnover prone and cause quite a few turnovers which could end promising drives and keep the score lower than expected. Miami has 20 takeaways and 18 giveaways. Bowling Green has 25 takeaways and 22 giveaways. Red zone will be interesting with Miami the #1 red zone defense against Bowling Green, the #3 red zone offense.Comment -

MEAC FCS actions, catch the fever! SC State is ranked in the Top 15 in FCS and possesses a potent offense that is putting up 30 ppg. Morgan State is allowing over 31 ppg this season. SC State has 92 points scored in its last two games, while Morgan State has given up 92 in their last three - including 30 or more in each of the last two. Morgan State doesn't particularly do anything well offensively, but they have managed 17 or more points in all their conference games. Part of that is due to their defense which is 2nd in the MEAC with 25 takeaways. That could help them get enough points to help out with the over here as SC State looks good to probably at least get their average of 30 if not much more.Comment -

ECU has scored 33 or better in seven of their nine games this season. They face UAB's defense which is giving up 31 ppg. The Blazers have only given up 33 or more twice this season, but ECU poses their stiffest test. Pirates need WR Dwayne Harris healthy here. He is questionable after a leg injury against Navy, might check his status before going full tilt here. If he can go, he forms a dynamic duo with Lance Lewis that UAB will have loads of problems with.Comment -

Can bad offense score points against piss poor defense? I think so. Both these teams are giving up about 30 ppg this season with Ball State holding just one opponent to less than 17 points, while Buffalo has given up 21 points or more in eight straight. Ball State has had issues against both the pass and run, ranking 89th against the pass and 93rd against the run. Buffalo has struggled for any consistency on offense, but this could be the one team they can fare well against. Buffalo's PPG at home is skewed to me as they have played some very solid defenses at home, so I expect they will get some points tonight. Ball State has scored 24 points or better in four of their last six, so against an average Buffalo D, they should have opportunities for success.Comment -

Cam Newton's status is the big story, but obviously Auburn knows one way or the other whether he's in or out and are preparing in whatever case. Certainly if he's out, this number will be significantly lower. With or without though, this OVER might make sense as Georgia has scored 40 or more in four of their last five and face an Auburn defense that has given up 24 or more in six of their last eight. The Bulldogs defense hasn't been without its problems with opponents averaging 25 ppg on their home field against the visting UGA defense. Will advise to see the Cam Newton situation first and then move forward which is what I will do.Comment -

Navy is in a great groove on offense with five straight weeks scoring 28 points or more and of course last week's ridiculous 76 point effort. The Navy defense has been a little giving too with 21 points or more given up in five of their last seven. Central Michigan has been able to move the ball, but needs to convert that into points. CMU scored 26 last week and that was their second best output for the season. The Chippewas should be able to find some room against a Navy secondary that is giving up 328 ypg in their last five.Comment -

Two poor rush defenses here and that could mean plenty of points even with a New Mexico club that has struggled scoring this year. The Lobos are coming in off their best offensive showing with 34 against Wyoming. New Mexico churned out 219 yards on the ground and added over 200 through the air. Air Force is giving up over 200 yards per game on the ground and has yielded over 21 points in seven of ten games this season, including 22 or more in their last five in a row. The Lobos defense is being crushed for 230 yards per game on the ground and faces an Air Force offense that pounds out over 300 yards per game on the ground. Air Force comes in off their best point output in a month with 42 last week. New Mexico has given up 31 or more in seven of nine and has given up 38 or more in three of their four road games this year. I think Air Force can roll up 40 here and that means New Mexico only needs to pitch in 17-20 to help this out. Think it's got a shot.Comment -

Since I'm done with full games today after the Air Force game, going to go with a 2nd half play today. This game has been full of explosive plays and very quick scoring. Troy's defense is as dreadful as ever, giving up 250+ yards on the ground so far and almost 180 through the air. Since they trail, look for Troy to continue to go with the passing game which is working so far. Troy has 193 yards through the air. It's 38-21 at the half, I can see another 35 points or more on the board in the 2nd half.Comment -

One of the most dynamic and now copycatted offenses in the country on display with the "Pistol" of Nevada. This is a big number, but this Nevada team has hit for better than this total in six of nine games this season. Fresno has only really faced one dynamic offense and that was Hawaii. Fresno gave up 49 points in that game. They gave up 34 last week to a Louisiana Tech squad that had not scored more than 24 points in all but one of their past eight games. Fresno has also shown a propensity lately for giving up big points in the 2nd half. Nevada has scored 41 or more in three straight in this series.Comment -

You've got an Akron team that has given up at least 28 points in nine of their ten games this year and really struggles against the pass against a team in Miami that averages 255 ypg through the air. The Redhawks have struggled for points at times due to turnovers, but has put up 21 or better in three of their last four. Miami's defense has also given up at least 20 in eight of ten games. Akron is not great on offense, but has put up double figures in eight of ten games. Both teams have been INT machines, so short fields could help.
And yes, I'm not skerd of a redshirt frosh stepping in for Miami. Light up young buck although there is still a good shot Dysert plays.Comment -

Air Force has beaten this number the past two weeks and faces a defense that struggles mightily against the run. UNLV is giving up 215 yards per game on the ground where the Falcons average around 315 per game. UNLV had a streak of five straight games giving up more than 40 points snapped last time out when they shut down a poor Wyoming team. On the season, UNLV has given up 38 or better in seven of ten overall.Comment
