I had to look around for real info on Colgate. Having played against Air Force four times while playing D-line at BYU I can attest to how difficult preparing for their option can be. My gut tells me Air Force will be better than last year and that an average FBS team will lack both coaching and personnel to defend their option attack. The line has jumped a point or two, but I'm guessing it won't matter too much. Furthermore, the game is at AF, which is over 7000 feet in elevation. Can anyone give me a reason to lay off? Also, I'm not clear as to just exactly how lines fluctuate. Is this line likely to go higher or back down? My gut prediction is that Air Force wins by a margin anywhere from 17-35

#2Yes I can give you several reasons to lay off.
Air Force returns only 3 offensive starters and 3 defensive starters and lost its place kicker. They are learning a new offensive scheme which features more passing. First game will be a dice roll as last years sophomores, many who will be expected to start this season, saw very little playing time.
Colgate has a stud QB. Gavin McCarney is expected to be his league's Offensive Player of the Year. He tallied 23 TD's last year and led the FCS in scoring.
I'd take the generous points against a raw untested Air Force squad if I felt compelled to wager on the game (which I don't).
Falcons win but don't cover in my humble opinion.Comment -

#3I appreciate the info, Isaiah. Between you and Phil Steele's info I think I will pass on this game.Comment -

Another approach for you could be to watch the game and evaluate the 1st half performance of Air Force. And if they are clicking on all cylinders place a 2nd wager on them.
As you mentioned the altitude is on your side and you could see a worn out Colgate team in the fourth quarter.
Just a thought. Good luck to you.Comment -

#5If I may ask, what book allows you to wager on FCS vs FBS games? I know that they are a rarity in Vegas, and since I do not play off shore books, I do not know. Thanks.Comment -

#8I saw it on 5Dimes. So 5Dimes takes wagers on any game, yet drastically reduces the max you can play. Interesting.Comment -

#9I initially really liked this game.... and still think AF covers. However,,, after a closer look at Colgate and seeing that this line is inching upward...and with speaking with a few gurus on this site...:-) I have decided to drop this game way down in my first week plays... once the 17 point barrier is broken with these two conferences... be sure to do your homework !! Good luck guys!!!!Comment -

#10The line moves a point and a half every time someone bets $60 to win $50, so even if you're right, it won't do much for your bankroll. I do cap all these games, however, so I'll know what to make of the results. It can give you a big edge in week two.Comment
