Does the SEC's horrific bowl effort so far make you think twice about backing 'Bama?
Or I suppose Mississippi and/or A&M for that matter?

Notre Dame + 10. Alabama played NOBODY this season. Trash schedule and Notre Dame will expose it.

like A&M and ND. A&M still has Big 12 kids on team. No SEC recruited kids on the team yet.

No way in hell! Regardless of who Bama has played (out of conference) playing in the conference speaks for itself. Take a look at where Bama and Notre Dame rank when it comes to strength of schedule.

I can only laugh and shake my head when people complain about SOS with SEC teams. I'll be the first to admit that Bama and my Dawgs had the easiest conference schedules by far. Hell, we even had pretty decent non-conference cupcakes as well, even though Bama did play Michigan (we had Boise last year and pick up Clemson next year). But the fact remains, it is nearly impossible to come out unscathed in our conference by the end of the year. Since 1998 when the BCS system was first incorporated, the SEC has accounted for no less than 8 titles-that's 8 out of the 14 years-and we can argue that it could've possibly been 9 had Auburn not gotten screwed over in '04 (we'll never know who would've won between Auburn and USC/Oklahoma). Anyway, of those 8 titles, only 3 times has the team been undefeated! Every other had at least one loss (or 2 in the case of LSU in '07). Please don't misunderstand, my point isn't to beat my chest and gloat with conference pride or whatnot, which I realize now I may have already failed at. My point is that no one understands how difficult our conference is until they're a part of it. All the respect in the world to A&M, they came in and showed they belong-but Missouri barely won two conference games, and one of those was on a horrible coaching call on Dooley's fault in the 4th OT against Tennessee. Granted they also had the hardest conference schedule next to Ole Miss. The point is, I'd LOVE to see some of these teams play in our conference and see how well they'd do. I'm sure some would fare ok like A&M, but most would struggle. I know everyone can agree that the SEC is hands down head and shoulders above every other conference, and will continue to be for years to come. All of this to say I'm confident Bama will win this game, but don't know how confident I am in them covering the points-10 pts is a LOT, especially in a championship game such as this. Still doing more research and all, may just end up taking the ML.

A lot of ppl made SOS arguments when it came to Florida/L'Ville game too.
I think Bama rolls but the main reason is that E. Goldson isn't an elite QB. It takes elite QB's to tear up these SEC defenses and keep them on the field for extended amount of time. Tahj Boyd and Bridgewater were able to do that and it helped their defense a lot. Just don't think Goldson will be able to make enough plays, but then again, we have all seen how well lesser D's than ND's have performed against these piss poor SEC QB's. Clemson and L'Ville D's had a field day. It's a QB's game now and game will be decided between Goldson and McCarron.

McCarron is better than Golson as a passer but Golson is a much better runner. Unfortunately for the Irish the Bama run defense is better than their pass defense.
You really can't look at UF's or LSU's losses and UGA's and USC's struggles as an indictment on Bama. I looked at all those games and LSU had bozo the clown coaching. The other 3 teams had a bunch of guys auditioning for the NFL. Some of their players weren't playing all out risking injury and the others were looking for their moment to strut like a peacock after every play. Once UGA woke up they took care of business. USC doesn't have a lot of playmakers so it took a bit for them to get points. UF has a horrible QB who can't make up for a large defecit and Muschamp took a book out of Les Miles and coached desperate and stupid. If UF had another quarter of football they probably win that game but it's tough when you piss away the first 3. Their defense didn't figure Bridgewater was throwing the same 3 throws until it was too late.

Yea if ND had a great QB and better weapons on the outside this game would be a lot better. Just don't think they have what it takes offensively to exploit Bama's weakness on D.

a&m was super impressive taking that high powered offense from the big 12 and doing it in the sec. i really like them tomorrow...

I feel good about A&M fwiw, even though they are kinda rivals. I definitely feel better about that than Ole Miss-they have a very good offense, but it depends on which Rebel team shows up. Their defense is pretty atrocious, but their offense makes up for it as long as they show up. I suppose Pitt is kind of the same way-they play well at times but are horrible at other times. Already on A&M, still wary of the Ole Miss game.

Well said Mac, I just don't see how ND will be able to stop Bama's offense, much less move against their amazing defense. It takes a very good QB to pick apart that secondary, as we saw with Aaron Murray and Johnny Manziel.

Assuming I agree with this, which I don't, Bama BARELY got by LSU, Should have lost the SEC championship game, if Georgia knew how to manage the clock, and left a very average South Carolina team hang around WAAAAYYY too long
The weak showing by the SEC in bowl games are a precursor to whats in store on Monday night
The whole conference is over rated and they're being exposed this season
ND + 10 all day, sprinkle some on the ML

Isn't the SEC 3-3 so far? Not really horrific especially given the way LSU lost.
I'm already on the Irish +10.5 and I'm going to add to it. They will win outright.

Lol Bama didn't play South Carolina this year! But nice try though! Everyone needs to stop reading into the other bowl games so much-they didn't mean anything, and it's pretty obvious to the teams playing. Trust me, everyone knows those games would've been played a LOT differently if they had any meaning or championship implications. That's not to say that Clemson and Louisville would've ended up losing-they very well may have won anyway. But some of the coaching calls certainly would've been different. Like many astute forum members have already noted, most are more worried with their upcoming draft picks and such. If these bowl games were part of some sort of playoff or something the kids would actually care more than they do. ND may very well end up winning the game, but I would put my money on Nick Saban over Brian Kelly any day of the week. Ultimately I think Bama is much better coached than ND, and that may end up being the biggest difference in this one.

80% on the Irish according to Covers.com. This game is ripe for a fix
