Line opens at -2 and the sharps bought it up -2.5. Now its sitting at -1.5 and you're trying to make a case for VT road record.....not really buying that.

What I'm buying is Me and Miami need hurricane relief money, so the only way to GET IT is for Miami to win outright, in which they do.

Don't be surprise..... once the sharps figure out that there on the wrong side and look for a buy-back pushing this to a PK at kickoff.

By what metric exactly? I'm seeing 79th or 86th, depending on what model you look at. If you account for the fact it was K State and Notre Dame who did the most damage to them (52 and 41pts) it starts to look a little better. Their schedule so far this year was one of the toughest in the entire country.

The Hokies have better defensive stats but their schedule to this point was pretty weak except for Clemon. They have two common opponents, G Tech and North Carolina.

Miami held NC to 18pts in a loss and V Tech gave up 48 in a loss. Miami gave up 36 to G Tech in overtime (and won), V Tech gave up 17 (and won) in OT as well, but this was also first week of the season so they had tons of time to prepare for the peculiar style of G Tech's offense.

Not saying Miami has a lock on this matchup by any means, but clearly Miami defense is not "almost worst in the nation." They've played three teams that are now in the top 10 after nine weeks of play. ND and K State undefeated with very impressive resumes, and Florida State's only blemish is a 1pt loss to NC State.

Miami allows 5.15 yards/rush and 8.5 yards/pass attempt. those are atrocious numbers (as in bottom 20% of the nation bad), and the only positive qualification is that they have played one of the best schedules in the nation. this game is a pass for me, BOL whatever you decide.

Yea against ND, FSU, and Kstate 3 top teams in the nation while vtech has played a high school schedule. It's not about trusting Miamis D. It's about not trusting a shit team with a shit qb on the road

fair enough. miami has played some tougher teams..i agree, especially the last 3 games. but those games take a toll on your team. the bye helps and the experience throughout the season helps but they are still to young. you look at miami's games against some worse opponents and it makes you question if they can handle a experienced team like VT. A well coached and prepared team.
Boston College hung 32 points on Miami and they almost lost against them. Georgia tech put up 36 points against miami. Thats not very good D. Over 400+ yards of O by both of those teams.....
not to say VT has played any better then them but i think the experience and preparation for this game will be the difference. if they don't turn the ball over they win this game hands down. They know the importance of this game and how to win.
Id trust VT over Miami in this spot 100%.

                        Clemson high school team?
Cincinnati aren't push overs either.. and north carolina is pretty good

They had there share of some tougher opponents.

The only loss that concerns me is the loss to Pitt on the road.. but Pitt was due for a break out game at home for the first win of the season against a ranked team.

actually, i think the smartest play here is to pass on the side and take the over. i am taking the U in my pools where i have to pick a side on this game, so i certainly hope that you're right. BOL to you.

I haven't seen a lot of tape on either team, just wanted to point out how Miami's perceived weaknesses could be a bit misleading. Seeing such stiff competition all year can play out two ways -

                                1. They've been outclassed by quality competition, take it to heart, and learn from it / play harder
                                2. They roll over after three straight losses, two to top 10 teams

I won't have a wager on this game, there's just not enough edge anywhere for me to justify it. If I had seen some of their games I might be more inclined.
