Thats a nightmare matchup for Sonnen. Palhares will break something for sure after all the brazilian comments. I guess Sonnen could keep it standing and win like hendo but Palhares has improved since then.

Awesome/Dumb mistake of the night. Played Shogun at -185 when it opened months ago (9.25u to win 5u). I play a lot of early lines then buy back, get better numbers, etc... Was waiting all day for Forrest to climb back to +200 and then I was going to buy it all back, 5u to win 10u on Forrest. Decided a buy back and no actual play was the best option. Well my dumb ass forgot to do it. Ended up winning 5u more because I forgot to cancel my bet on Shogun that I didn't like. Not counting it in the record at all, but just had to tell how being a dumb ass made me money tonight.

(if i did have $ on it, i'd be pissed)...imagine how brookins feels...nothing to feel ashamed about...just being victimized by crap judging

on the whole this happens much less than in boxing...but still often enough to suck

It goes both ways. I lose bets I think I should have won, and I win bets I think I should have lost. If you bet enough, it all evens out. With that said, I have no problem with the judging in that fight.

mma is less frustrating to me than boxing because a much smaller % of the contests go to the "judges"

boxing died for good about 30 years ago when Marvin Hagler kicked Ray Leonard's ass and walked away with a split-decision loss

since then the judges who see it as a "beauty contest" have held sway over those who (far better IMNSHO) see it as a "damage contest"...hence the hi-% of unsatisfying robberies...

I get the same feeling at the end of a fight waiting for the scorecards as i do when waiting for penalty kicks in football...why don't they drop all the pretence and pull out a goddam coin? I have gone to bed just before the "decision" or the dumbass penalty kicks cuz i quite simply don't want to know...i've seen the fight or the game and i don't want what passes for judging to ruin the event. (Frazier beat Ali TWICE...as did Ken Norton...and Hearns knocked Leonard down twice and WON their second fight...just as I know "The Killing Fields" and "Mississippi Burning" were the best pictures in their year...and "Forrest Gump" was NOT)...

Boxing judging has gotten progressively more politicized (due to non-athletic=commercial interests) and shitty in general over the last few decades...Ali/Leonard and Howard Freaking Cosell were the deathknell of the sport.

rant over...mma is way better than boxing but still suffers from the "beauty" vs. "damage" schizophrenia. As long as the former holds sway we'll have too many real deals losing to golden-haired boys.

BTW, I'm not saying Brookins won...but he sure as hell did not deserve an "L" (in fact he deserved an "L" less than Koch did)...Brookins deserved AT LEAST a draw...and Koch deserved AT BEST a draw...

I think the kid is actually a pretty solid fighter, he just doesn't look like it. He hung in there with Stephens. Nijem is way too big of a favorite with little experience, and name recognition from a terrible season of TUF. I'll be kicking myself for not betting more if Downes wins.

And I absolutely think Danny Downes should change his nickname to "The Syndrome."
