The Mississippi Coast Coliseum in Biloxi will be the home tonight for Roy Jones Jr. vs. Anthony Hanshaw. According to Jones, this bout is suppose to be a small speed bump in his quest for a bigger payday fight down the road against Felix Trinidad.

Roy Jones still has physical gifts make no question about it and still has power in both hands, blazing hand speed and great conditioning.
I get the suspicion however that Jones is overlooking Hanshaw in hopes of a big payday with Felix “Tito” Trinidad. At this point in Roy’s career it is not likely that he can beat a legitimate top 10 Light-Heavyweight. I think an up and coming top 10 guy with heavy hands can send Jones into the pasture for good.
Tony Hanshaw is a natural super-middleweight so he will be the smaller man in this contest. Hanshaw is a tough and technically skilled in-fighter who has been preparing with excellent boxing trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. in preparation for this match. Tony has never been tested against someone of Roy’s caliber but is more than up to the challenge.
Bad blood has boiled between these two leading up to this fight and Tony Hanshaw will probably not be intimidated by Roy’s reputation like Jones last opponent fringe contender Prince Badi Ajamu. Jones is very vulnerable at this stage of his career with bad hands a shaky chin and diminished reflexes.
I see this fight as 60-40 in Roy Jones Jr.’s favor. It will be a close fight but I don’t think Hanshaw has quite enough firepower to KO Roy. With Jones promoting his own show a close decision will go his way. I think Roy will win this fight by decision but at -260 Jones is overpriced and I can’t put in a recommendation for him at that number.
