Hope he makes a ton of money for whoever will pick him up next. Lineker was saying he couldn't get a fight and had to work in a pet shop to make ends meet. That's nuts for one of the most exciting mma fighters competing today. Would love to see him wreck shop in ONE or Bellator and he gets paid what he's worth.

It sucks but Lineker has already fought a lot of the BW division in the UFC and he wasn't going to get a title shot anytime soon. We'll get to see him make a run in different orgs where fighters won't be able to turn down fights against him.

Bizarre how UFC fighters like Leslie Smith who were making around $50k per fight, bite the hand that feeds them, only to condemn themselves to bellator where they'll be paid far less.

Wonder if Lineker is mad over his fight with Cory Sandhagen where significant strikes and total strikes statistics might have been heavily biased in Sandhagen's favor. Wouldn't mind if they eliminated those numbers from commentary due to the massive amount of human error that typically goes into them.

On the bright side, it does set up Kyoji Horiguchi vs John Lineker in Rizin.

Lineker was scheduled to face Jimmie Rivera on December 30, 2017 at UFC 219, replacing the injured Dominick Cruz.[40] On December 24, it was reported that Lineker was forced to pull from the fight due to tooth infection. [41] Subsequently the fight was cancelled.[42]
Lineker faced Brian Kelleher on May 12, 2018 at UFC 224.[43] He won the fight via knockout in the third round.[44]
Lineker was expected to face Dominick Cruz on January 26, 2019 at UFC 233.[45] It was reported on December 11, 2018 that Cruz injured his shoulder and pulled out of the fight.[46] As a result of the cancellation of UFC 233,[47][48] Lineker was re-scheduled to face Cory Sandhagen at UFC on ESPN+ 1.[49] However, it was reported on January 10, 2019 that Lineker was pulled from the bout due to rib injury.[50]
The bout with Sandhagen was rescheduled and eventually took place on April 27, 2019 at UFC Fight Night: Jacaré vs. Hermansson.[51] Lineker lost the fight via split decision.[52]
Lineker was scheduled to face Rob Font on June 22, 2019 at UFC on ESPN+ 12, replacing injured Cody Stamann.[53] In turn Lineker was pulled from the bout for an undisclosed reason.[54]
On July 2, 2019 it was announced that Lineker had been released by UFC.[55]

            .

I didn't realize Lineker pulled out so much.

That plus all those times he missed weight @ 125.

                        One FC signed Lineker.

                        He'll compete @ 145 pounds.

Former UFC bantamweight John Lineker recently signed with ONE Championship in Singapore and is expected to make his promotional debut later this year.

Here's Why UFC Released John Lineker | Luke Thomas

The UFC decided to release John Lineker, long-time flyweight and bantamweight contender. Why would they get rid of a fighter who was world class with wins over Marlon Vera, Michael McDonald, John Dodson, Ian McCall and others? Why would they get rid of a guy who was certifiably exciting and a known knockout (KO) artist? The answer lies not in their inability to recognize that, but the premium they place on fighters who don't trash the organization, don't miss weight and don't get injured. This video is not a defense of the UFC's decision. Lineker should not have been released, but with the UFC's schedule on ESPN expanding the number of shows, they badly need fighters who don't create problems in meeting their content demands. That's not necessarily fair, but it does show what they value and what a potential work stoppage would mean for the UFC if the fighters ever organized one.
