Only went with small budget for this fight, $100 in play, mainly parlays, max out at 8 legs, most were smaller. Didn't have to bet a hedge until, just before the Cavillo fight, and of course they would prove to be unnecessary. But considering, the initial parlays totaled about $65, with another $45 in hedges, I am quite pleased with the return $1041 not bad for the price, had a few more for $50-25ish in the undercard and fightpass portion of the event. TBH, I don't like going big on these PPV events no more, the only one I am planning on betting heavy on is Miocic/JDS, and thats because I've been wanting Andrade to fight Joanna for a very long time, and to me she could end her reign.Comment -

#497Thanks man. I have a lofty goal of +66u for the year, which would be 100% return on my bankroll. Even if I hit 50% return on the year I'll consider that good. I'm on pace for both, so I feel pretty decent so far.
Not sure what you guys are used to getting back compared to your bankrolls, but i'd be happy anywhere over 50%.Comment -

Also I researched before the weigh-ins, had my ideas on who I was gonna take but actually waited until the morning weigh-ins which of course were nuts, and sat out 2 fights for parlayin' in between Fightpass/FS1/PPV portion, which actually worked out very nicely. Definitely nice knowing yer parlays won't get halved because someone gets pulled. Course downside is missing out on them sometimes juicy opening odds, double-edged sword kinda thing, but guess thats gamblin'.Comment -

#500You boys think Rogan had a bet on that Mousasi Weidman fight? That to me was way way way over the top. Who the fuk is he to even be yelling any of that shit to a ref lol. C'mon that was bizarre and to me that was way to close to call but to Rogan Weidman hand his hand up almost two feet from the mat. I had a little drinky in me so maybe it was just me. Im gonna watch the DC fight again cause i think the drinky got me in that one cause i think i thought Rumble tried to make a statement with wrestling. Jibby u now think Weidman is a shot fighter? Here is a news flash that division is killers row. It really is incredible that Bisping is the champ of it.Comment -

Thanks for the parlay reminder and enjoy the winnings bud!!
I use to play full card parlays for $5 with every UFC event but I didn't hit one for all of last year so I quit.. I came close on a few cards though but no cigar.... I figure those $5 full card parlays are like a lotto tickets anyways but with better odds so why not?Comment -

#502Very solid parlay hits. When I see hit's like this I gotta remember to play those multi team parlays myself.. I got lazy this year and haven't tried big parlays for 5, 10 or 15 bucks.. I think I'll bet parlays now on 5 or 6 of my best plays on each card...It's a small price to pay for a potential and realistic big hit..
Thanks for the parlay reminder and enjoy the winnings bud!!

I think it kinda has alot to do with how one structures a full card of parlays, certain things seem to help secure wins, at least as far as I have found out, mainly by trial and error....alot of error...but with error comes some good lessons for winnin' which I do more often nowadays than when I first started.
I like to structure now from headliner, and then go down. Truthfully if you make enough parlays this doesn't matter, but for reasons of organization, I find this method much easier. Goin' fightpass up to the headliner, nothin' sucks worse than having 1 of 4 or 3 fights from fightpass, knockout 40-60% or more of your other parlays sucks, sucks bad. Statistically I don't think it changes if you parlay properly, but trying to remember who to cover goin' from the bottom fight to the top is a pain in the ass. lots o' room for error.
Bottleneck fights, as I call em' pretty much necessary, but they can be so painful. Could be one, could be 3-4, but again seems like goin' from bottom fight to headliner, you seem to hit more bottleneck fights that have to go your way or they massively kill your parlays. I find I usually have 1-2 bottlenecks every 4 or 5 fights goin' headliner down to fightpass. For this card in particular my bottlenecks were Burgos and Usman for most parlays, and Cavillo and Jury in the last 6 fights. I used to have bottleneck fights that were mainly props which can really screw stuff up, I try to keep these money line bets now, usually 3-4 of em, augmented with 2-3 props. Try and avoid the bottlenecks if you can, or better yet don't let em' exceed more than 2-3 a bet, that's what kills most parlays, the more you get per bet, the easier it is to kill that parlay, so limit the number allowed in a bet fo' sure. Seems like common sense but it's so easy not to regulate these suckers, next thing you know bam, 80% of yer sh!t gets blown up.
Whiteboard. Get a good size whiteboard, write down them props for the fighters and the odds, that you think are realistic. Then when that's done, go through it again, and start crossin' out some of them, less likely to happen. After about the third, or forth time of goin' over the board crossing some out each time, they should be pretty solid. There should always be a prop to eliminate, for the first 4 or 5 times of goin' over the whiteboard, always. If you ain't crossin' at least one or two out, that's wrong. Every prop you leave in could be a win, could be, but it's definitely gonna be a cost. Then after you get your props, limit em'. I used to have super prop heavy parlays, and I still do sometimes, some for lotto purposes, but 3-4 money line legs, pop on 2-3 props. Truthfully they should always be more money line legs than prop legs.
Lastly, track that sh!t, not the record of success, but track what the heck yer parlayin'. It's so damn easy to accidentally bet a parlay twice, or not bet one that you should have. Hell plan em' before you bet, usually every fight I got a bunch of paper diagrams with parlays mapped out, it's tedious, and kills the writin' hand, but it can help avoid accidental bets.
Personally straight betting each fight, to me seems to yield profit on a more regular basis, but if you wanna win the dough with this, the bankroll definitely has to be higher. For cards your unsure about, or just playing with a smaller bankroll I still luv ma' parlays. Gambling is about money, and fun. Gotta pick which matters more to ya'.

#506I'm pretty jealous of the huge parlay wins myself. I play almost entirely straight bets. Slow and steady and try to win consistently. If I go between 2-4units profit per card, I'm happy. Need a sizable bankroll to make it worth it, like you said. Problem I have is I'm pushing my bankroll to the limit to make something off of my small unit gains, I can't afford to lose small pieces of units here and there on big parlays that I miss way more often than I hit.
Truthfully, your style of betting is exactly how a smart gambler should bet. The Parlay, for the most part is correctly viewed as a sucker's bet. So far I have been able to hit one in every event for about the last seven, but my history with parlays go back past McGregor's KO of Aldo. I can tell you personally, parlays can work if done properly for small bankrolls, but to consistently win as I have been so far has taken over 2 years of losing with them, and I have had fight cards with in some instances over 90 parlays all which have been busted. I think the most I have ever had on a single card, was somewhere in the 120-130 range. They are extremely easy to lose. Parlays appeal because of the cost, in relation to the payout.
In this case, $6.25 yielded a return of $1041, at a total cost of $100 in parlays.
Most of my parlays for this card, were anywhere from $1.25-$5.00, most were for about $2.50, with the only exception of those higher than $10.00 being hedges against the outcomes of the last 3 fights.
Again, I like parlays, especially because with $50-$100 you can make quite a few for a healthy return, but if you actually calculate the odds of hitting a 4-7 leg parlay that has props mixed in with money-line bets, the reason all the pros focus on straight betting becomes very clear. Decent return from that kind of betting requires a decent bankroll, or someone with patience to work up a small bankroll into one, and good accuracy of picks, which may not be all that fun, and subsequently adds to the allure of the parlay.
What makes parlays somewhat easier in this forum is the fact we have a vocal community, and many people who post their predictions, not just of win/lose but as a win by a certain prop, KO, Sub, Dec...etc...
One day I hope to master the parlay, to an exact science. Unfortunately, I have yet to see any professional bettor admit they have done so, or that it can even be done at all. Truthfully this sport is probably one of the worst to do it in, because there are so many avenues a fight can take when examining the props, let alone a fight being cancelled thereby tanking the value of an existing parlay, we all know the UFC's track record with cancellations.
So until that day comes, straight betting, like you do, is the way to profit.Comment
