Another splitter. Sox threatened early in the first two innings and then did shit all the rest of the game.

      7.19.12: Tigers Team Total Over 4.5 [-115]
Jerome Williams on the road vs. competent offenses = good results for the offenses. Halos have given up at least five runs in five of six on this current road trip. Detroit has five or more in four of six after the All-Star Break, including two in this series.

            7.20.12: Phillies Team Total Over 4 [-115]
Continuing to fade Lincecum, especially on the road where nine of his ten starts have seen the opposition score at least four runs by game's end. In eight of those, Lincecum has done all the dirty work - giving up at least four runs himself. Phillies offense has not been sparkling, but the team does have all its parts back and this is an important home stand if they are going to make up any sort of ground.

              7.21.12: Dodgers Team Total Over 4 [-125]
LA has found some offense with a dozen runs over their last two games. The Mets have had trouble stopping anyone since the All-Star break with at least four runs allowed in all seven games and five or more in six of those. Batista gets the spot start for the Mets. He is 1-1 with a 4.00 ERA in four previous starts this season. Not being stretched out as a starter of late, he may not get too deep into this game which will play right into LA's hands. The Dodgers will look to get more off the Mets bullpen which is sporting a 4.95 ERA.

                7.21.12: Twins Team Total Under 4.5 [-125]
Twins go against Mendoza & KC. Mendoza has been rock solid lately. In his last seven starts, Mendoza has given up four runs or less each time and two runs or less five times. He has two starts against Minnesota in that stretch, allowing three runs in 13 IP. The Twins scored three and four runs total in those two starts. Other than their two game outburst against Baltimore, Minnesota has scored four or less in 10 of their last 13. They average a shade over four runs per game on the season, around 3.7 runs per game on the road.

                    7.22.12: Giants Team Total Over 3.5 [-125]
Giants have ripped the Phillies for 12 runs in the 1st two games of this series combined and get Joe Blanton today. Blanton was hit hard for four runs on double digit hits when he started against SF back in April in San Francisco. The Giants' bats have come alive on this road trip with six runs or more in four of their last five. Blanton has been hit or miss at home, but in five of his last seven starts @ home, the opposition has scored at least four and that goes for nine of his last 12 overall. Phillies have given up at least four in seven of their last ten.

Diamondbacks Team Total Over 5 [-115]
D-Backs get another crack at the road weak Astros pitching staff. Lyles for the 'Stros who sports a 6.81 road ERA. He has given up In seven road starts, the opposition has only failed to hang at least six on one occasion. Arizona remains a lethal scoring force @ home with five runs or better in 13 of their last 15. They have banged home 25 runs in the 1st two games of this series, begging the question why didn't we just bang the F outta the team totals this series?

Diamondbacks Team Total Over 5 [-115]
Riding Arizona @ home once more against Jonathan Sanchez. A little risky as you don't know how Sanchez responds with the switch back to the NL. However, Arizona just flat out rakes at home. It's now 14 of their last 16 @ Chase Field that has seen Arizona nail the opposition for at least five. Colorado has given up at least five in six of their last eight overall.

Angels Team Total Over 4.5 [-110]
Bruce Chen goes for KC. Chen limited LA to nothing in his first start of the year, yet the Angels still scored five by game's end. Chen has been bad of late, giving up four or more in five of his last seven starts overall. On the road, his ERA is a robust 7.11. LA has scored five or more in six of their last ten and two of three to open their current homes tand. They are pounding lefties @ home to the tune of .288.

                                7.24.12: Orioles Under 4.5 [-115]
Hellickson goes for TB and only five times in 16 starts has the opposition scored five or more by game's end. Only one time in six road starts. The Orioles have scored four or less in 14 of their last 19 and 11 of their last 15 @ Camden Yards. The important part will be getting a quality start from Hellickson to keep the bullpen out of the equation as long as possible.

Diamondbacks Team Total Over 5.5 [+100]
'Zona has now scored six or better in six straight and as outlined yesterday, they rake against lefties @ home with a .278 average. At home, they average 5.34 runs. Colorado has given up at least six runs in six of their last nine overall. Cabrera has just one start under his belt for Colorado, shelled for seven runs/five earned in 2.1 IP against Washington. He had major issues keeping the ball in the park - giving up three home runs. Big number here, but worth a roll until someone cools these guys off @ Chase Field.

Yeah, you don't even have to make the joke it writes itself. The Burn has not been slow as he has allowed five earned runs or more in half of his 14 starts and at least four runs in another three. In all, the opposition has posted a five spot in nine of his 14 starts. He comes in off one of his better starts, but that was @ home against KC. On the road, he has given up four or more in four of the last five. Three starts ago @ Target Field, the ChiSox blitzed him for six runs in just 5 IP. Minnesota has given up at least five runs in four straight.

Diamondbacks Team Total Over 4.5 [-130]
Arizona's total drops down, presumably giving some respect to Jeff Francis ... but why fade a hot offense? Our home standing Diamondbacks continue to be offensive juggernauts with seven straight games of six or more runs and 16 of 18 with five or more @ Chase Field. Francis has been pretty steady, but comes in off one of his worst starts - five earned runs in 5 IP @ San Diego in his last start. Francis sports a 5.40 career ERA @ Chase Field and has been lit up by some of the Arizona big bats: Upton 6/15 with 2 HR, Young 8/24 with 2 HR, Drew 9/26. Francis is also routinely only going five, so the bullpen gets into play early. The pen has actually been better than the starters, but there's always late chances when you get into a team's pen by the 6th inning.

Astros have scored three or fewer in 14 of their last 16. Burnett goes for Pittsburgh. He's given up three or less in eight of his last ten starts. Houston did get him for six back in early July, but that Astros squad still had some of its key offensive pieces with Lee & Lowrie who are gone and on the DL. Back in early May, he limited Houston to two runs in 8 IP. Overall, ten of his 17 starts have seen the opposition end with three or fewer runs.

Cards get a crack at Travis Wood who they beat up in St.Louis in his last start for six runs. Wood has given up 14 earned runs in his last two starts. St.Louis comes in having scored five or better in four of their last six. They have raked lefties all season to the tune of .278, although lower on the road. In six of Wood's last ten starts, the opposition has finished with at least five runs. And not that I think it is a key stat, but STL provides Lynn with lots of run support - he ranks 3rd in the league for most runs per game in support of his starts. Still pretty solid proof, 16 of 19 starts the Cards have tallied at least five runs when Lynn has taken the mound.

Lyles has been letting in runs @ an alarming rate lately with 22 earned runs allowed in his last four starts. That includes getting banged around for 7 earnies @ PNC Park by Pittsburgh. Overall, the opposition has scored at least five runs in starts by Lyles in nine of 13 tries.
