Freshman basketball player Boateng to leave Duke

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) - Center Eric Boateng has decided to leave Duke after one season and plans to transfer following the spring semester.

The 6-foot-10 Boateng averaged 0.7 points and 0.6 rebounds in 20 games in 2005-06. He played a total of 50 minutes and took only seven shots, making six. The Blue Devils (32-4) lost in the semifinal of the Atlanta Regional to LSU.

``Eric has elected to pursue opportunities at another school,'' Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski said in a statement. ``He is leaving Duke in good academic standing and we wish him well in the future.''

If you are a Duke fan, this is good news as it creates another scholarship for 07 which they have 2 additional players they want who are not yet committed anywhere and they are top 10 players and friends(Love and Singler). Also, they are more in the 3 or even 4 year mold.

If McRoberts stays and they get Lance Thomas for next year, their team on paper looks better than it did this year as far as the tourney goes as they will be very athletic. Lance is between his hometown school Rutgers and Duke.
