2012 MLB Season with John Ryan

Ok, here we go with the start of the second half and some recovery of the horrendous first half. One of many lessons to be learned is that you MUST not fall into the temptation of trying to recover losses all in a few huge plays. We all know people, unfortunately, that have had bad Saturdays in CFB, then stepped up the NFL best, which then made the losses stress riddled, then see them dump a whole pile of dough on the Sunday night game and lose again.

You will not find that style of play with any of my threads period. I will continue to grind it out always looking forward. Even when the football threads were HOT, I always kept reminding everyone to focus on the week ahead and not allow a big losing or a big winning week to affect your decision making. More on this later..

Yes, that was correct.. I am an old school and still look at the them as Anaheim.. I try to mention them as the Angels... LA is Dodger Blue only in my mind.. anyway.

20* Baltimore Orioles using the -1 1/2 run line. I have +160 for this play. I would appreciate seeing what some of you are getting out there on this line. The majority of them are showing +1 1/2 at -200, BUT this play is betting Orioles cover the Run Line and obviously win by two or more runs.

Also, I like a 5* on the Orioles using the -2 1/2 run line playing +240.

Simply, the database had them playing last night and sometimes - once or twice a year - I get a calendar error like that.

The only play I have is a 10* on the Boston Red Sox Thursday night starting at 7:10 PM ET.

Clay Buchholz
He has struggled to date based on his previous seasons of excellence. He has posted a 5.54 ERA with a 1.479 WHIP, but is 8-3 in 15 starts spanning 92 ⅔ innings of work. He has averaged a solid 6.2 innings per start and I see no reason why he will not complete at least that much work tonight.

Over the last three starts he has posted modestly improved numbers with a 4.66 ERA and a 1.086 WHIP striking out 20 batters while walking just four batters spanning 19 ⅓ innings of work. ONly, his last start was recently completed after spending about a month on the DL with esophagitis, which is essentially a very severe form of acid reflux that ends up tearing the membranes of the esophagus and creating tremendous pain.

His last start was a 5-3 loss to the Rays, but he graded very high in 10 different pitching categories used by scouts. His fastball was electric ranging between 92 and 95 MPH and struck out eight batters with six of them called third strikes. So, he is rested and strong and pitching far better than his flash stats would otherwise indicate.
