#493Ok Im getting frustrated. Everyday I take a few minutes to look over sbr and 3 days ago John you offered a challenge. I accepted the challenge. I asked that you or someone PM me the details, no one has done so. The challenge was so vague that I tried on 3 occasions to find out what we would be playing for.
If its not a real money contest I have no interest, if it is please Pm me. Also Im not hating on you etc. but you keep mentioning bankroll mgmt. no one and I mean no one. Not B. Walters, The Krackman, Pings, etc etc has a 300 unit bankroll swing and continues to bet everyday almost every pro Ive ever come across takes certain days off and starts lowering their wagers. I think you should do the same imho.
Thanks MILKComment -

Thanks Dilaudid8 for your kind comments. You would be a perfect candidate for this kind of thing but you probably want to see the particulars like many of us. I remember that you won this year's Wager Tracker NHL contest. Whatever comes to pass I would hope that John would keep us updated.
PS Here is Dilaudid8 NHL win:

You mushed a -200 fav in St. Louis and wasted units on Toronto + 1 1/2 run line as they won straight up by 9 (game was over in 2nd inning; 8 - 0 Jays after 2).
How many units up am I? Or will there be more carnage on the late games?

To be honest Tide, I didn't notice your response and I don't know if anyone else did either. If you really want to take him up on his challenge then please officially accept the bet.
John, you need to step up and clarify what the bet actually is so Tide, drnk, or whoever can take you up on it. I don't think anyone knows if it is 500 play units, $500 cash, 500 SBR points or what. I thought it was $500 cash when I first saw your challenge. However, with you not answering posts or giving specific information I don't know what your offer is. I am assuming most are in the same boat.
Please say what the actual risk is (play money, cash, points or whatever) then take one of these guys up on their offer since you have at least one, if not two offers on the table. I think anything other than money or a ton of points or similar is uneventful.Comment -

I believe I hd already stated that it would be SBR points - using the point we have all accumulated, that the bet will not exceed 500 SBR pouts, that there MUST be a minimum of 50 bets made and no more than 75 bets placed spanning the 30-day challenge. I also believe LT Profits, who sets up the weekly contests can set all of this up for us. I look at this as fun and entertainment with a competitive flavor.Comment -

#503Thank you for clarifying John.
You actually stated 500 units which I wasnt aware were also known as points.
I only have 800 sbr points but havent the slightest what Id do with them. However I could use the motivation and maybe posting my plays in a public forum will do just that. I have made 9 plays in 6 days.
I usually make around 4 a day.
I accept the challenge starting this Tue or Wed.
Id also like the ability to use your rating of play system. It makes it very difficult for me to win when Im betting a 1/4unit props and 2/3 unit scalp sysyems and you have 20 unit plays.
Very excited to take on someone I looked up to early on in my sports wagering ventures and the challenge. Have LT set it up
Ill check in tomorrow.

#508Joined the contest thanks again JOhn BOL. I sent you a pm this is about the only week of the year where Ill have time to do more than one contest. With college football right around the corner and my main cash game will begin to die in August after this week I will be full time devoted to sports investing and cards. If you'd like Ill just copy and paste my selections in our contest and add them to the LT profits weekly as well? Im super stoked (oh boy Im getting old.. stoked ha!) to take on the likes of you.
So everyone is aware I normally play first 5, team totals and player props I dont see those as options for selections in the contest which is fine I"ll just do straight up totals, ml's and run lines it should be interesting and fun. GL 2 all
Im also starting a thread today for my daily picks that don't have anything to do with the contest. I dont normally do this as I use liquid markets, line pricing and alot of hedging but since I have a week off and a number of my plays will be made public here anyway, why not

Thanks.. This is for entertainment and competition.. This is only a measure of who can pick more winners over a 30 period... so hopefully we both get red hot and have a great month. I laughed when you said the 'likes of me'. I have experience yes, but this season of horrid MLB plays has only added to experience.. When you take things too serious and they then transcend into other IMPORTANT areas of you rife, then it is time to reassess.. But, i still am enjoying the test and will persevere through this MLB season. We all know how good my football seasons have been... This does not mean that I am not working just as hard to find winners during this losing season, then when things are rolling red hot...Comment -

#511The Phillies situation is quite interesting regarding dealing or not dealing Cole Hamels.
He is an impeccable teammate, never in trouble, always working hard.
There has been news released by John Heyman, baseball insider at CBSsports.com, that the Phillies are making calls to gauge trade interest for Cole Hamels. This really hasn’t been any new revelation, but now that it is fully confirmed, it is only a matter of time that a trade is completed.
Hamels is going to command top dollar in the free agent market and may even get close to the money given to C.C. Sabathia of the New York Yankees. In Spring Training, the Phillies, specifically GM Ruben Amaro, Jr., stated that signing Hamels was top priority. Well, it is not July 2, 2012 and there has been no deal completed to make Hamels a lifetime Philly and the team is on pace to lose 90 games.
Injuries have taken a huge toll on the Phillies this season. Chase Utley has just come back to the starting lineup with a chronic knee ailment. Ryan Howard, who tore his achilles on the last play of the 2011 NLDS is nearing a return. Ace starting pitcher, Roy Halladay, has been out for the past month with an oblique/shoulder injury. Reliever Antonio Bastardo is not injuries, but his incredibly poor late inning relief pitching has hurt the Phillies immeasurably this season. So, the Phillies have become a General Hospital of MLB, but decisions, and tough ones at that, need to be made in the weeks ahead.Comment -

#512Oh, by the way, Cliff Lee is winless with an 0-5 record. The Phillies are nine games under .500 at the mathematical midway point of the 162 game season. Yet, they are 7 ½ games out of the wild card race, but have to jump over eight teams over the remaining 81 games. Only Houston, Colorado, San Diego, and the Cubs, have worse season records than the Phillies.
In April, I went on record speculating that the Phillies would be making a heavy bid for Mets third baseman David Wright to bolster the offense and add some valuable defense to the position come the July trade deadline. I had incorrectly predicted that the Phillies would be leading or contending for the division lead and also for the best record in the National league. It is the Mets, however, that are the ones likely to be buyers this month trailing Washington by 3 ½ games.
First, I do not believe the Phillies management is going to give up on the season. Not with Ryan Howard nearing a return and Roy halladay recovering ahead of schedule. They have a very interesting situation in Hamels that has the potential to set the stage for the Phillies to continue contending for years to come. Hamels is an elite left-handed starting pitcher, but let’s not overlook the fact that he has never won more than 15 games in a season and has never won the Cy Young. So, the Phillies are in a very strong dealing position that will command a wealth of talent in return.
The Phillies are also loaded in the minors with some very strong pitching talent. So, strong, that there are four starters coined the baby aces, so do the Phillies would be looking more toward three of four top offensive prospects and if one of them can play second base, all the better. In an optimistic way, the Phillies can reduce their team salary significantly and acquire some very real talent in return for a trade involving Hamels. At the same time, they remain contenders and can still make a run for the Wild Card. It may not be popular among Philly fans, but in my opinion, it is the right thing to do for the team. Amaro has shown he is a very aggressive GM and I think that will serve this team very well in the weeks ahead.Comment -

#522Yesterday just was another of the those days. Philly leading with closer Papelbon on the hill two out, bottom of 9, man on third. End result walk off bloop single for a loss to the Phillies. Best hitting team in baseball, Texas gets swept.. 2-1 loss... and the one that had the least probability of winning, the Dodgers +168 comes through.
The point is that the dogs are the necessary ingredient to any MLB methodology. So, yesterday, ended up losing 0.32 units per one unit wagered.. By the way, 20* Texas lost in extra innings. No excuses. A loss is a loss.... and it is still a loss the next day.
I would like to talk about the trade deadline here in the days and weeks ahead.
I wrote about Cole Hamels and Zack Greinke, Thursday, and it is on the site. What do you all think your favorite teams need to do?Comment -
