Their lineup is starting to get weak. Not so threating up and down it any more .

    I like it.

Yeah, it's awful when two starting outfielders get hurt, so you have to bring in a future Hall of Famer to play.

A slow not so great future Hall of Famer, that is hanging on to long. Id rather face Bernie then Matsui or Sheffield.

Umm, I'm not referring to Crosby or Melky, so I'd guess it would be the all-time postseason HR leader.

Bubba made a great play tonight in the Boston game. I thought that was going to comeback and bite me in the azz. Damon also stole a HR in that game. Yanks took away 5 runs on those two plays.

Bernie's misjudgment of the fly ball and the wind, helped me out. That lead to the 2 runs that put Boston ahead. I can deal with that future all of famer in there over the other two I mentioned.

I don't think he'll make the hall of fame. not with how strict the HOF committee has been. I think Vizquel will make the HOF before Williams. and if the Yankees are looking for Bernie to play everyday now in the outfielder...they're in A LOT of trouble. They'll probably be knocking on the D-Rays door for Aubrey Huff now..

I can't imagine you're serious with those first two sentences, but if you are, well, I won't say anything else about it.

Aubrey Huff or someone would be nice, but I don't have a problem with Damon, Bernie, and Bubba in the outfield for a month (I'm more patient than Steinbrenner though). That's still the best lineup in the AL except possibly Cleveland or Toronto.

I'm much more concerned with the starting pitching than the OF.

I agree with that, but would add the bullpen up to Rivera to it.

Maybe, but Proctor has impressed me, Small will improve, Farnsworth can be unhittable. I would like a LHP that scares other teams a little more than Mike Myers - though his ERA is very good right now.

On second thought Vizquel won't make it either...someone like Roberto Alomar will instead in his place(no arguing there)

Bernie has been killer in the postseason true...but if Jim Rice(i know you'll hate this one) has been overlooked so many times...and other outfielders like Henderson ahead of Williams...I just don't see him making it. if he does it'll take him awhile

I don't know, maybe the HOF voters look at the regular season stats almost completely, and don't really care about postseason and impact on a team winning championships.

I think it is idiotic that Jim Rice isn't in the HOF.

Were you referring to Rickey Henderson? He will get in because of irrelevant numbers, where anyone who watched his and Bernie's careers would say that BW is the more clutch player, and he helped his team win much more.
If you want a big hit in the playoffs, Bernie is your guy. If you want someone to steal 3rd base in an 8-1 game in June, RH is the guy.

It's tough to argue that Henderson isn't the best leadoff hitter ever. His on-base % is crazy. He'd walk..steal 2nd and 3rd..and then score on a flyball and the score is 1-0 before you can even blink. He also hit .284 in the post season and actually almost had better numbers in the post season. Bernie Williams has the most homeruns in post season play with like 22 because he's had about 600 plate appearences to do it in. Not dogging him on that but that just means he's consistent throughtout(which you can't ask more for especially for a good player in the post season) but it's not like he was a huge homerun hitter come post-season time.

imo i'd put Henderson in the HOF way before Bernie.

omar vizquel in the HOF requires a huge leap of faith I would think...a solid player for sure but not HOF quality.

Bernie Williams is a coin flip....could make strong cases either way. He certainly has had a great career maybe there is one more peak left in his career
