    Boston's Clay Buchholz out "depression/anxiety"
He left last start with shoulder soreness. was expected to return monday july 4. First they say he had setback with shoulder soreness. then on mlb.com it says this... "No timetable for return" sounds somewhat serious... breakup with his girlfriend? what the heck? how long could he be out? Sox can't depend on Wakefield and Lackey. Buchholz is good. Am i late on hearing about this?

he does not make millions. He makes $550,000. I think last year he made 300,000. Shit, maybe that's why he's depressed. He's one of the best hurlers in the game and he can't live large like all his teammates.

I don't see anything out there about Clay and depression. Probably someone saw "Buchholz" and "depression" and assumed it was Clay.

Francona told the media it was his back, probably because if the media starts hounding buchholz over this, i figure it'd only make his anxiety worse. click the link i attached to see mlb.com's official injury database.

Every other site says Clay is still dealing with a lower back issue.

Could be mlb.com mixed up the information.
Maybe what's written by Taylor is supposed to be written by Clay, and vice versa.

Buchholz, who has a lower back strain, has already said he doesn't expect to return before the All-Star break -- all of seven games away -- and Francona said the same Monday.
"Hopefully today we'll learn some more," Francona said of the meeting with Dr. Gill.

Can't imagine a team putting this out there. I mean why not personal problems, thats how they usually list such things.

Depression, Really? I'd be pissed off if I was Clay!

didn't say the best. and when i say one of the best, i'm not talking top 5. i'd say Buchholz is in the top 20 for staring pitchers. Remember, he finished 6th in the AL cy young voting last year. 2.33 ERA.

aside from the oakland game, he's been very solid in his last 8 starts

yisman is probably right. MLB.com probably just made an error. I thought that mlb.com was the most legitimate source, so i trusted what they said over espn/other media outlets. but its probably just a mixup with the other buchholz on the mets. Yisman's probably right. probably a mixup.

I was just curious because it said "meeting with team doctor july 4." and clay buchholz DID meet with team doctor july 4, as did crawford. So, if its a typo, kind of a coincidence that the same injury report on clay also says he's meeting with team doctor same day that francona/everyone else says he's meeting doctor for back? hmm..

but thinking about it, yisman is probably right. even though i trust mlb.com as official injury database, it's probably just a mixup.

                                                        mlb.com makes plenty of mistakes.
