mccutchen is on final vote in ballot i believe
as a homer i say tommy hanson especially if he gets win #10 tomorrow
as a baseball fan i say tommy hanson sabathia would be nice to see kimbrel but he has 4 blown saves but has been lights out the last month or so and looks like he will break the rookie record for saves before the break

I agree with hanson... I am not a huge believer in the era stat.. I think there is much more then that when grading a pitcher. Personally, yes jurrjens has had a great year and should be an all star... but I would put hanson above him from what I have seen. I think he has better stuff and has pitched just as good if not better up until now. When grading young pitchers right now, I have him #3 behind felix and kershaw... and not far off..

era and whip are huge categories when grading a pitcher
a pitcher could be 16-9 with a 5.20era and a 1.70 whip means he's fukin brutal but his team scores a bunch of runs for him
or you look at king felix stats last year 13-12 2.27 era 1.06 whip (great pitcher but his team does not score for him ...imagine he was on the yanks or redsox or any team that scores a shit load of runs but im glad people saw how good he really was. he deserved the cy young)

I can't believe Paul Konerko didn't make it in. The dude should be like the MVP, he's carrying this often-and-otherwise crappy team.

yes he is, but apparently there are more deserving first basemen.

I think that all star selections are a joke. you usually have a lot of dependence on what players did in previous seasons. if they are having a bad season, they'll usually still make the all stars. some other guy could be having a great season, better than the people chosen, and not make it. then you have the rule that every team has to have at least one all-star. I also think it's ridiculous to have the all-star game decide home field advantage. well, at least it's not as bad as the pro bowl.
