i hear you. i'll rethink it, but i just use a formula (xFIP and such) that's then adjusted for weather, ump, stadium, plus certain filters and consideration for line movement. Welke is my #1 over ump right now, so unless they change the ump, i'm still leaning over. more importantly, the Giants hit RHP better than LHP, which was my biggest reservation before.

did a little research on Lynn. he turned it on last year after becoming more of a 4-seam than a sinker pitcher and had a 16 K game, but this year, he's 5-3 4.06 ERA, 54 K in 62 IP. more importantly, he pitched 7 innings on sunday. this is an emergency start. that said, i may play it smaller and i won't play it bigger than 3*. i appreciate the info, though, thanks pacocn.

Hey Biff, any word on OSU? You know I love the Big Ten, but I"m not sure I could support Urban.

i despise Urban Meyer so does much of the OSU fan base. he'll have a Fred Sanford on the sideline at his first Michigan game. if his stomach couldn't take continuing at UF, OSU is no easier. i suspect that he'll realize the same thing and that espn will promote his work a lot, he may be happy at the desk. long-term, i see him more doing that or maybe being an AD.

Fickell is the guy that the fan base is behind right now. if you think about it, he bears a lot of similarities to Bielema, and although the spotlight is more harsh in Columbus, the difficult part about selling a young hire to the alums has been done - he's already in. the coach has to have Ohio ties (so Patterson and Peterson are out), and although i think that names like Stoops and Saban and Pelini are very intriguing, they have great situations and the sanctions may scare them off. Gruden would be silly, and Dantonio is probably too close to Tressel to take the job. i'm hoping that the sanctions are livable, and that Fickell wins 10 games and takes charge of the job and never gives it back. the good news is, once the season gets closer, all of that talk will go away so long as the team plays well (a big if, i know - c'mon Braxton Miller).

this one was because of the change in starting pitcher, i think. i got a bad number, 8.5 then it went down to 8. got bad numbers on PIT/NYM over today and PHI/WAS under yesterday, hoping that this game ends up working out as well as those did....
