Arizona reaches preliminary agreement with Mulholland
January 3, 2006
PHOENIX (AP) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks reached a preliminary agreement Tuesday on a minor league contract with much-traveled pitcher Terry Mulholland.
The left-hander, who turns 43 in March, would get an $800,000, one-year contract if added to the 40-man roster. If he makes the team, he likely would be a left-handed specialist.
He was 0-2 last year with the Twins, working 59 innings in 49 games with a 4.27 ERA. He had 15 starts and 24 relief appearances for Minnesota in 2004, going 5-9 with a 5.18 ERA.
In 19 major league seasons, Mulholland has gone 124-142 with a 4.40 ERA while pitching for San Francisco, Philadelphia, the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, Seattle, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Minnesota.
