Wisconsin betting apps

The Wisconsin mobile sports betting landscape is a one-entity show for the moment, with the Oneida Tribe operating its proprietary sportsbook app through its casino (and players only able to use that app on tribal lands at affiliated betting locations).

But with the rest of the state’s tribal casinos also eligible to offer legal sports betting, it likely won’t be long before you’ll have several top-level sports betting operators from which to choose. And when that happens, we’ll have our list of the top options here.

Wisconsin promos and bonuses

Any potential expansion of mobile sports betting in Wisconsin will mean plenty of bonuses and offers for anyone making wagers within state lines. We encourage everyone to maximize their sportsbooks promos, since many welcome bonuses result in real cash landing in sports bettors’ accounts, with little playthrough required (for the most part).

How to bet in Wisconsin

Register online

Registration requirements vary slightly by sportsbook, but most follow the same protocols. Be sure to have your personal information (name, address, phone number) and credit card details (number, expiry date, CVV) handy.

Deposit

Once you’re comfortable with how your sportsbook’s new signup bonus works, it’s time to make your initial deposit. Ideally you should establish a budget and stick to it; spend only what you’re comfortable losing, and no more.

Select and finalize your bet

Congratulations! You’re ready to place a wager. Take some time to familiarize yourself with the app interface before diving in. Most mobile operators make it easy for new sports bettors to navigate, but it’s still a good idea to know where everything is.

From there, you can place any type of wager you like; the most popular bet types are the moneyline, spread or total. You can also dive into team or player props, or even kick things off with a futures bet.

Once you have the desired wager(s) in your betting card, take one last look to ensure you’ve made the selections you want. If everything is good, simply click the “Bet” button – and you’re off!

In a lot of cases, the success or failure of a state’s sports betting push comes down to whether the governor is pro- or anti-gambling.

Fortunately for Wisconsin, Governor Tony Evers not only supports sports betting in the state – he’s one of its champions, making it an early priority to sign new gaming compacts with the state’s 11 tribes. Evers got his wish in the summer of 2021, and in the process has set the stage for expanded sports betting in the near future.

In addition to sportsbooks, bettors can also use Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS) in Wisconsin. Check out our best DFS sites.

Here’s a look at Wisconsin’s sports betting history:

2021: Evers, Tribes Agree to Compacts

Two years after taking office, Evers moved toward delivering on his goal of coming to agreements on new compacts for the state’s 11 federally recognized tribes. Those compacts would allow each tribe to offer both retail and online sports betting, provided that all wagers were made exclusively on their respective tribal territories.

Evers’ dream became a reality on July 1, as he reached a deal with all 11 tribes on new compacts that allowed each to provide sports wagering on its own timeline. And in a stunning development, the Oneida Tribe needed less than two weeks to declare that it intended to have legal sports betting in place in time for the start of the NFL season.

Yet, despite being given the go-ahead to offer sports betting, the Oneidas were plagued with delays on the way and weren’t able to start taking bets until Nov. 30.

2022: Oneida Launches Mobile App

February saw two landmark events take place on the Wisconsin sports betting front.

The first was Betway’s partnership agreement with the Milwaukee Bucks on Feb. 14. The deal made Betway the official gaming partner of the 2021 NBA champions; it was the latest basketball agreement for the sportsbook, which has also partnered with the Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat and Dallas Mavericks among other teams.

One week later, Oneida Casino launched its sportsbook app, becoming the first (and only) operator to offer mobile wagers. And with the Oneida deal seen as the “blueprint” for the rest of the state’s tribes, you can expect more online betting options soon.

2026: Expansion of legal sports betting?

Lawmakers in Wisconsin are considering a proposal to expand the state's online betting regulations, which are currently limited to locations offering retail betting. The new bill, if passed, would allow online sports betting as long as the servers are location on tribal land (similar to the current set-up in Florida).

In November 2025, a bipartisan bill with these proposed changes advanced through the Wisconsin Legislature. However, just weeks later, the bill received pushback from GOP leaders, pushing any potential vote into early 2026.

Major industry players like DraftKings and FanDuel oppose the new legislation, as it would require them to pay roughly 60% of their revenue to tribal gaming partners. The Sports Betting Alliance (a lobbying group representing major online sportsbooks) warns that its members would likely not try to launch in Wisconsin under the proposed model.

In early 2026, Wisconsin Assembly Speaker Robin Vos revealed that legalized online betting in the state would likely head to a vote in the near future. By late February, state lawmakers voted to pass AB 601, which would make a small but important change to current gambling laws. The bill would allow statewide mobile sports betting through Native American tribes, rather than limiting it to tribal grounds.

In mid-March, the Wisconsin Senate passed AB 601, sending it to the Governor's desk for his signature. Should it be signed into law, it will introduce a new era of legal online betting in the state, where tribes can partner with sports betting companies to offer online wagering outside of tribal lands.

Responsible Gaming in Wisconsin

Like most states, Wisconsin has put safeguards in place to ensure that bettors have a way out of any potential trouble spots.

The Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling is the state’s main resource for players who seek help. The site provides access to a trove of resources, including counseling contacts, anonymous surveys, self-assessments, video and more.

Visit the Wisconsin Council on Problem Gambling site.

Sports leagues to bet on

It will come as no surprise to see a rather extensive list of major professional and amateur sports available to Wisconsin bettors – a list that includes (but is not limited to):

  • NFL
  • NBA
  • Most NCAA Football
  • Most NCAA Basketball
  • MLB
  • NHL
  • Golf
  • Auto Racing
  • Tennis
  • Soccer
  • MMA
  • Entertainment (including awards shows)

That doesn’t leave much off the table, but there are three major markets in which wagering in Wisconsin is prohibited:

  • Politics
  • Esports
  • Collegiate events involving Wisconsin-based teams

Wisconsin teams to bet on

Wisconsin sports fans have been treated to some great performances by their sports franchises in recent years. The NFL’s Green Bay Packers were the second-winningest NFL team of the 2010s, while the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA title in 2021 and the Brewers won division titles in 2011, 2018 and 2021.

Here’s a look at the three major professional sports franchises that play their home games in Wisconsin:

Green Bay Packers betting 🏈

Sports bettors might not be able to make in-game wagers at Lambeau Field, but third-party operators will be lining up for partnership agreements if the opportunity ever presents itself. The Packers are one of the most revered franchises in football, and even basic signage deals would be massive for prospective sportsbook partners.

Milwaukee Bucks betting 🏀

The Bucks have a recent NBA title, a deliriously loyal fan base and one of the biggest superstars on the planet in Giannis Antetokounmpo. They also have the first sportsbook partnership of any pro team in the state, entering a multi-year agreement with Betway in February 2022. The deal makes Betway the team’s official gaming partner.

Milwaukee Brewers betting ⚾

Will the Brewers follow the example set by the NL-rival Washington Nationals? The Nats are the first Major League Baseball team whose stadium is connected to a retail sports betting venue (BetMGM Sportsbook). The Brewers’ home park, American Family Field, recently underwent a brand change and would likely welcome sports betting partners.

Wisconsin retail sportsbooks

As of 2022, there is only one retail location offering sports betting in Wisconsin:

  • Oneida Casino (Oneida Casino Sportsbook, 2020 Airport Dr, Ashwaubenon, WI, 54313)

Growth of sports betting 📈

When the U.S. Supreme Court repealed PASPA in 2018, the growth of legal sports betting in the United States skyrocketed. Close to three dozen states have since legalized some form of sports betting, with the most common legislation including the licensing of online sportsbooks and mobile betting apps. Check our legal sports betting tracker to find out more about any state you're interested in.

Over the past few years, large states like Ohio and Massachusetts have enjoyed massively successful online betting launches. Sports fans get an extra way to engage with their favorite teams, and the states earn plenty of much-needed revenue from licensing fees and taxes.

Last year, legal North Carolina sports betting arrived on March 11, 2024, bringing eight of the best sportsbooks in the country to the Tar Heel state.

However, Missouri is now the most recent state to legalize sports betting. Stay up to date on the latest news and updates as they're announced by coming back to this page regularly.

The next states closest to legalizing sports betting are Oklahoma and Hawaii, but we don't expect either until the first half of 2026 (at the earliest).

Wisconsin sports betting FAQ

Yes! The state legalized in-person sports wagering on July 1, 2021, with the Oneida Tribe taking the first legal bet in Wisconsin on Nov. 30. Oneida launched its sports betting app the following February.

Am I permitted to bet in Wisconsin even if I don’t live there?

You can create an account, deposit, make bets and withdraw using any regulated mobile sports betting app in Wisconsin, as long as you are within state borders. Be sure to complete all of your transactions before you leave, however; once you’re outside the state, you will no longer be able to access your account(s).

Can I bet on esports in Wisconsin?

Esports betting is currently prohibited in Wisconsin.

How big is the Wisconsin sports betting market?

Wisconsin is an above-average sports betting market in the U.S., ranking 21st nationally in population at 5.9 million people (2022 estimate).

Who is responsible for overseeing sports betting in Wisconsin?

The Wisconsin Division of Gaming has jurisdiction over sports betting in the state. You’ll find plenty of info on the website, including gaming forms and publications, statutes and regulations, and a link to the Office of Indian Gaming and Regulatory Compliance.

Will there be more online sportsbook operators in Wisconsin in the future?

With 10 other tribes in the state having been given the authority to provide legal sports betting on their respective lands, it’s inevitable that we’ll see more wagering options soon. The interesting part will be whether more tribes build their own sportsbook apps (as the Oneida Tribe did), or partner with established sports betting operators.
