If you're in the Granite State and you feel like placing a sports wager, you had better have a fondness for DraftKings.
The renowned sports betting operator is literally the only game going in New Hampshire – and paid a pretty penny for the opportunity to have the state’s bettors all to itself. But while the journey hasn’t always been a smooth one, New Hampshire’s sports betting handle has surpassed $1 billion all-time – and counting.
While some states offer a selection of top-tier sportsbooks for your perusal, it’s quite likely you’ll only see one atop this list for the foreseeable future.

Caesars is proving to be one of the most aggressively expanding brands in sports betting. Unfortunately, like all major U.S. sportsbooks, they are quick to limit you if you go on a tear and their odds boost promos offer low maximum bet limits.
BetMGM is one of the top-rated sportsbooks in the U.S. offering some of the best live betting odds in the industry. They’re also the largest iGaming operator across the U.S.
FanDuel reigns supreme right now as the No. 1 betting site in America. And it has largely earned that spot on the strength of superior brand recognition, an easy-to-use product, an overwhelming number of markets for North America’s most popular sports, and representation in every state in which it is permitted to offer legal sports betting.
DraftKings had a solid reputation as the leading DFS provider in the country, so the shift to legal sports betting felt natural. They offer one of the most voluminous collections of ongoing promos and odds boosts in the industry as they cater to the beginner crowd. However, their reputation has dwindled as outspoken CEO Jason Robins leads the charge of the anti-profitable bettor mentality that runs rampant amongst sportsbooks that are quick to limit winning players.
bet365 is one of the largest and most popular sportsbooks globally. With a well-received mobile app, popular same-game parlays, and a wide variety of sports leagues to bet on it’s no wonder 80 million sports bettors worldwide continue to use bet365.
Online since: 2015
PointsBet’s innovative nature shows that they don’t want to just be another book you place typical bets. Unfortunately, they are quick to limit bettors on a hot streak and limit the number of promos you’re able to take advantage of, making it necessary for you to shop at other books regularly.
With a large variety of ongoing promos and contests featuring Barstool personalities, Barstool Sportsbook is a solid option available for casual bettors.
While this book won’t wow you with its design, you won’t find many apps easier to navigate – or with the sheer volume of sports markets Betway offers. And although you'll find more generous signup offers elsewhere, Betway remains a strong global sports betting brand that deserves to be mentioned among the second-tier sportsbook options in the U.S.
Just about everyone loves free stuff, and folks from New Hampshire are certainly no different. Here are the top bonuses and signup offers available:
At DraftKings NH, you will receive a $50 free bet with a minimum deposit of $5. If you don’t have the bankroll to make a more extensive first deposit, this is a humble offer. Still, this is far from generous, considering that DK is a multi-billion dollar industry giant.
The more significant offer DraftKings features is a 20% first deposit match up to $1,000. In this case, you must deposit $5,000 to be eligible to receive the maximum possible bonus amount of $1,000. This is not a reasonable offer for the casual bettor.
We can’t really punish DraftKings for ranking at or near the industry standard when it comes to offers, interface and seamless transition between the betting app and the DFS app. But with low bet limits on most boosts and massive play-through requirements on bonuses, there’s room to improve here.

Congratulations! You’re ready to place a wager. Take some time to familiarize yourself with the kiosk or physical sportsbook setup before diving in. Most operators make it easy for new sports bettors to navigate, but it’s still good to know where everything is.
From there, you can place any type of wager you like; the most popular bet types are the moneyline, spread or total. You can also dive into team or player props, or even kick things off with a futures bet.
Once you have the desired wager(s) in your betting card, take one last look to ensure you’ve made the selections you want. If everything is good, simply select “Bet” at your kiosk, or sign off on your bet at a retail location – and you’re off!
New Hampshire kept things simple in successfully introducing legal sports betting into the state. Between the creation of a standalone bill and the availability of a single sports betting license, NH took one of the most straightforward paths to legal sports wagering of any state in the country.
Here’s a look at New Hampshire’s sports betting history:
Less than two years after successfully enacting a law legalizing daily fantasy sports betting in New Hampshire, legislators set their sights on a bill that would allow for legal sports wagering.
There was a groundswell of support for the bill to be part of a larger piece of legislation aimed at allowing standalone casinos – but the final proposal stood alone and passed through both chambers with ease.
Governor Chris Sununu signed the bill into law in July 2019, and after a competitive bid process, DraftKings Sportsbook was selected as the state’s only licensee. Sununu then placed the first legal bet in New Hampshire in December.
Just as New Hampshire really started hitting its stride – DraftKings took its first mobile wager in the state in January – the COVID-19 pandemic sent the sports betting industry into a tailspin.
New Hampshire endured four straight months of handle in the single-digit millions, a far cry from the $19 million it had averaged over the first two months of 2020. Things finally picked up again beginning in August, when the state put up $27.5 million in handle and followed with four straight months of more than $40 million to end the year.
As the sports world slowly returned to normal amid the latest wave of COVID-19, New Hampshire reached new heights as sports bettors continued to flock to the DraftKings app and retail betting outlets. Three straight $50+-million months to open the year set a strong tone, while NH amassed $335.7 million in handle from September to December.
A new monthly record of $99.5 million in handle in January gave NH a major boost, and that momentum carried over into three straight months of $70+-million handle through the end of the NFL season and March Madness. New Hampshire saw a 51.6 percent increase in handle from January-April 2021 to the same time period in 2022.
Like most states, New Hampshire has put safeguards in place to ensure that bettors have a way out of any potential trouble spots.
The New Hampshire chapter of the National Council on Problem Gambling is the state’s main resource for players who seek help. It provides access to a wealth of resources, including contact info for help groups and problem gambling assessment tools.

It will come as no surprise to see a rather extensive list of major professional and amateur sports available to New Hampshire bettors – a list that includes (but is not limited to):
That doesn’t leave much off the table, but there are three major markets in which wagering in New Hampshire is prohibited:
Here are the places where you can bet at in-person sportsbooks in New Hampshire:
Filotimo Casino and Restaurant - Dover (DraftKings Sportsbook, 887b Central Ave, Dover, NH, 03820)

New Hampshire barely got started in the sports betting space before being limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But it bounced back emphatically to end 2020 and has been setting handle records with regularity ever since.

New Hampshire residents sure love their football. How else can you explain such a significant jump in revenue in each of the 2020 and 2021 fall seasons compared to the rest of the sports calendar? New Hampshire came tantalizingly close to the $100-million barrier in January 2022 but will almost certainly get there during the 2022 NFL season.
DraftKings enjoys a monopoly in New Hampshire, but it doesnโt come cheap: The renowned sportsbook operator pays 51 percent of adjusted revenue to the state.
Yes! Both online and retail sports betting became legal in July 2019, with DraftKings Sportsbook winning the right to be the state’s sole sports betting provider not long after.
You can create an account, deposit, make bets and withdraw using any regulated mobile sports betting app in New Hampshire, as long as you are within state borders. Be sure to complete all of your transactions before you leave, however; once you’re outside the state, you will no longer be able to access your account(s).
Esports betting is currently prohibited in New Hampshire.
New Hampshire is one of the smallest states in America when it comes to population, ranking 41st among U.S. states and territories at 1.38 million (2022 estimate).
The New Hampshire Lottery has jurisdiction over sports betting in the state. You’ll find plenty of info on the site, including specifics on the DraftKings Sportsbook partnerships with the in-state casino facilities and administrative and gaming rules.
The truth is, there might not be any more online sports betting companies setting up in NH. The initial legislation allowed for only one operator, and there doesn’t appear to be any impetus for changing that setup. In other words, don’t hold your breath.
