Books are pricing this like Topuria runs through Gaethje inside a round, and the Round 1 parlays are everywhere right now. I understand the temptation. Gaethje has never been stopped by a knockout in under a round and a half, though, and he chases exactly the kind of firefight that takes time to develop. Topuria starched Volkanovski, who walked in with real chin questions, and even that one reached the second round. Gaethje wants this loud and reckless because it's his last crack at a belt, so he won't fold early. Over 1.5 at -115 is my best bet. Two units.

I expect both men to let their hands go early. Gaethje walks forward and fights fairly flat-footed, and he's going to find out fast whether Topuria wants a close-range war. Topuria does. He's comfortable trading, he's the faster and cleaner striker, and he carries more pop than his frame suggests. That mix is a problem for a 37-year-old who plans to stand in the pocket and bang.

Gaethje's best route is heavy leg kicks and volume early, dragging Topuria into deep water and hoping the champion's gas tank or chin finally cracks. It's a live path. He's pulled off upsets before, and his power travels. The trouble is that Topuria has finished everyone he's faced, and he tends to locate the chin once he settles into the range. I expect him to spend a round reading distance, then start landing the counters that end fights.

This is Gaethje's last shot at a title, and he'll fight like a man who knows it. He'll press forward and throw with bad intentions, and he'll make Topuria earn every inch. I just don't believe he survives 25 minutes of that power. Somewhere in the second round, Topuria lands clean and Gaethje has no answer.

Topuria is favored for obvious reasons. He's younger, faster, and the more complete technical fighter, and his power carried over cleanly when he jumped from featherweight to lightweight. The -520 moneyline doesn't pay much, so if you share my confidence, you size up. If you don't, this is a line you can skip while you hunt the props instead.

What sets this fight apart from the rest of the card is the lack of variance. I think we already know the winner and the method. The open question is the round, and that's where the money is. Plenty of books are running parlays on Topuria to win in Round 1, and that result is live. So is a finish in the second round or later. I'm firmly in that second camp. Even Volkanovski, who carried chin questions into their fight, dragged Topuria into the second round before getting put away, and Gaethje is a good deal more durable than that.

So I'll take Topuria by KO at -210 and lean on the Over 1.5 at -115. If you're convinced this ends inside a round and a half, skip the parlay and wait on Topuria by KO on its own. My read lands on a stoppage about halfway through the second round.
