The most entertaining soccer division on the planet is back for Matchday 9 of its fixture list. Join our expert analyst as we break down the most favourable betting fixtures from Saturday's English Premier League schedule.

After a busy week of European competition, can the EPL squads uninvolved take advantage of the overworked squads they'll face this weekend?

Thomas Tuchel and his Chelsea squad are in the hot spot, currently holding the first-place position. Can the Blues follow up on their 4-0 midweek Champions League thrashing of Malmo FF?

Here are my top betting picks and predictions for the English Premier League Matchday 9 schedule on Saturday (Odds via BetMGM, FanDuel, DraftKings Sportsbook).

Premier League Matchday 9 Predictions

Chelsea win halftime/fulltime (-145)

Chelsea was able to break somewhat of a goal-scoring drought by dismantling Malmo FF in their Champions League appearance midweek. Contrary to popular belief, a team's position doesn't always reflect their performance. Despite Chelsea owning the most promising place in the Premier League table, their current form has taken a slight dip from a positive early-season run.

With two crucial defenders in Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva returning to action this week, life for Chelsea had seemingly picked up. However, a devastating blow hit Tuchel's team when Romelu Lukaku and Timo Werner were injured in the first half against Malmo.

With that said, the panic of losing these significant stars shouldn't trouble Chelsea too much. The Blues' goal-scoring efforts didn't regress as another two goals were scored following the injuries.

We're presented with a best-versus-worst fixture as Norwich City is the worst-performing squad in the Premier League. Backing anything other than Chelsea to win would be preposterous.

The moneyline betting odds are understandably juiced, but value can be had when backing Chelsea to own the lead within the first 45 minutes until the game's conclusion.

Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle United – Both teams to score (-128)

Optimism has arrived at Selhurst Park following an atrocious season start for newly appointed manager Patrick Vieira. The former Arsenal star, now Palace coach, failed to arrange a goal-scoring squad for the season's first three games. But eight matchdays later, Palace has managed to pick up their form and avoid defeat.

Newcastle's first game since the departure of manager Steve Bruce will be an interesting one. Bruce was admired at St. James' Park, and although the Magpies struggled for points, the former coach at least had the ability to formulate a goal-scoring team. Newcastle's defense has been the issue, something that won't be fixed with Bruce's removal. We could witness an even worse performing Newcastle team whilst they remain without direction.

Palace put on a great display of soccer last weekend against Arsenal and was extremely unlucky not to walk away with all three points. Finding the back of the net against the current Newcastle defense should come simple, and we won't be surprised to see Newcastle continue their scoring ways.

Both teams will be ambitious to claim three points this weekend, but predicting a winner is ill-advised without any recognisable form to go by. Both teams to score seems highly likely. I anticipate the match finishing in a 1-1 draw.

Everton to win (-155)

Everton's 2021-22 Premier League campaign has been nothing but positive, including their home record, which remained unblemished until West Ham rolled in last week to spoil the party. On the bright side, Everton is back on home turf again this week, and they'll be faced with a Watford squad that shouldn't cost them another home loss.

Rafa Benitez wasn't welcomed with open arms to begin his tenure as Everton coach, but with the results he's displayed, both Toffees fans and critics can't help but respect what he's accomplished thus far.

The same positive vibe can't be highlighted when evaluating Watford, who will enter Goodison Park on Saturday following a 5-0 beating from Liverpool. Losing five of their previous seven Premier League games is a concern, and the arrival of Claudio Ranieri as a manager might not be enough to save Watford from relegation this term.

Watford hasn't defeated Everton at Goodison Park since the 1980s. In 14 visits to the blue area of Merseyside, the Toffees have won 12 of them.

I don't blindly follow trends from decades back, but the current form of both teams suggests nothing outside of an Everton victory is worth backing.

Premier League Matchday 9 Quick Picks

Leeds United vs. Wolverhampton: Wolves double chance (-175 via DraftKings) | Wolverhampton is coming off an emphatic display in their West Midlands derby versus Aston Villa and I anticipate another respectable performance this week.

Chelsea vs. Norwich City: Chelsea win halftime/fulltime (-145 via BetMGM) | The No. 1 team in the league facing the worst team in the league. Chelsea will run riot at Stamford Bridge with or without the notable injuries they've suffered this week.

Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle United: Both teams to score (-128 via FanDuel) | Two struggling squads and the Magpies are without a manager. I don't think we'll witness a bucket load of goals, but I do expect at least one apiece.

Everton vs. Watford: Everton to win (-155 via FanDuel) | Everton might have dropped their early-season streak, but with a visiting squad in Watford travelling to Goodison Park, it's hard to ignore this incredible value on the home win.
